Ed Asner to play Santa Claus? Is nothing sacred? We need to let Hollywood know this is not acceptable.

If that commie plays Santa he will either give the same gift to every child regardless of age,or he will cancel Christmas because the workers production quota had not been met.

This McCarthyism is unAmerican. If you don't want to see a movie with Ed Asner in it, don't go. I support freedom of speech. You obviously don't. Isn't there something about that in the Constitution?

I really have to agree with you on this. The man isn't breaking the law. He's entitled to work. We just don't have to support him.

You are quite mistaken, we as Americans have every right under the constitution to speak our minds as well. We have the right to assemble, demonstrate, write letters, form advocacy groups and expose those socialist elitists for the commie scum that they really are. They can spew thier filth all they want and WE can clean it up with the TRUTH! This is more than they would allow us were they in charge!!!

Always struck me as more of a "Scrooge" type, to me. ;-)
To: jonalvy44
This is a perfect role for him--the color red suits him well.

Maybe the elves will organize a union to fight Santa's egregious working conditions and provide lots of free health care to treat their dwarfism...Or, they could just hold him down and shave his back. Mrs. Claus will be portrayed as a promiscuous slut by Susan Sarandon.

He won't need any padding.
After a MTM reunion, the guy who played Muray said he was really worried about how heavy Asner is.

Is it all right to watch him on reruns playing Mr. Grant talking to Mary Richards?

I have only one firm firm political belief about the American political system, and that is this: God is a Republican and Santa Claus is a Democrat. ...God is an elderly stern fellow. ...God is unsentimental. It is very hard to get into God's heavenly country club. Santa Claus is another matter. He's always cheerful, and he loves animals. He may know who's been naughty and who's been nice, but he never does anything about it. He works hard for charities, and he's famously generous to the poor. Santa Claus is preferable to God in every way but one: There is no such thing as Santa Claus.

Over there, they're probably boycotting Conservatives. If Ed Asner is a good Santa Clause, then he should get the role.
You really should listen to some '60s protest music and learn about freedom of expression.

With Ed Assner, the film should be called "Troll".
To: grania
I don't think we should write the company and demand different casting. Let them learn their lesson in the open market. I imagine there will be lots of people like me, who simply won't go see it.
