A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

bats that flew around the area at night would build nests in our hair if we were not careful. LOL. Morning, Pippin. Yes, I remember hearing that one too.
A superstition I remember from growing up is - if you drop a dish towel, guests were coming. To this day, everytime it happens, that silly saying comes to mind.

Thanks dutchess, our guys need all the prayers they can get. We're hoping he gets to come home by September so he can be here for Leila Kays baby sister's arrival.

"DON'T LET DUST FROM MOTH WINGS GET IN YOUR EYES -- YOU'LL GO BLIND!" Really? That's one I haven't heard.
G'morning, martin. Happy Friday to you.

We FReepers really know how to have fun. We sure do! And, isn't it great that Jim has given us this place where we can do just that?
Happy Friday!

You just HAD to bring this up an hour before I get on the road to Kentucky! Fortunately I'm not superstitious. LOL! Fortunately, I'm not either. My son put my grandson on a plane to Washington this morning to spend the summer with his mom. I am wondering if the plane was full. Lots of people won't fly on this day. Probably white knuckle flyers who feel they are pushing their luck whenever they get on a plane.....they are definitely not doing it on Friday the 13th. LOL.

Fun thread Mama_Bear. Sorry, I have no superstitions.
I must take umbrage with you saying that "step on a crack, break your mother's back" is a superstition. Everyone knows that it's true. :-)

Growing up, my best friends parents had a thing that if you hand someone a salt shaker you'll get in a fight with them (you have to put it down). That one has stuck with me...you should see me explain that one away! LOL. I have heard many 'salt' superstitions, but hadn't heard that one. Isn't it funny how these things stick in our minds forever? I mean, who can open an umbrella in the house without the fleeting thought that it is bad luck? LOL.

GOOD MORNING
To: dutchess
".......we head up to Michigan this afternoon! ...and I AM superstitious!" Have a safe trip, Sis.....you'll be just fine. (Will you be able to let us know you've arrived safely? Not because it's the 13th, just because we always rest easier when we know our friends are safely off the road.) :-)
My grandson flew to Washington this morning, and I'm sure I'll be getting word soon that he has arrived, safe and sound. No worries (a little Australian lingo I picked up, LOL).

My son Gavin flew today, too. He graduated Army boot camp in Fort Knox on Tuesday and by now is at Fort Aberdeen Maryland to attend school - gonna be a tank mechanic.

A happy and safe Friday the 13th to you too.

Hi Billie. Thanks for stopping by, I know you have a busy couple of days ahead of you.
Flowers for Billie,
thank you for all you do.

My black cat is a couch potato. I suppose he'll tune in Vincent Price movies today
To: martin_fierro
We got serious moth issues there. <|:)~LOL!! You're so funny. Thanks for the humor this morning.

Extra cute thread today. Thank you. :-)
Wolves don't HAVE superstitions, they ARE superstitions. Isn't there something about hanging garlic around ones neck to keep wolves away? Hmmmmmmm...or, maybe it is WEREwolves......or, is it dracula? I have no idea what I am talking about. LOL!
Anyway, who would want to keep a sweet wolf away? Especially not OUR sweet wolf. :-)

"Keep the clean side up and the noisy end forward." LOL. Sounds like good advice to me.

Good Afternoon! How is everyone today? I was just stopping in to say hello and request a few prayers. Seven years ago I was diagnosed with a heart defect and a heart murmur. The last two days my heart has been really giving me fits. The defect causes my heart to race and my blood pressure to spike. As a woman of 32 and a mother of small toddler it frightens me. Just asking for some prayer to get through today. Thank you so much my friends. I guess I just needed to talk about it. God Bless-
Chris
