Gay and lesbian groups said yesterday that the Catholic Church, under siege for the clergy abuse scandal, lacks the moral authority to mobilize parishioners against same-sex marriage. They are urging parishioners to walk out of services if priests voice the church's opposition to same-sex unions and to boycott church collections.

The lack of morals we see wouldn't be so prevalent, if spiritual discipline wasn't so lacking in America's churches.

Save your breath on sakic, he's not interested. He's FR's very own Larry Flint and proud of his debauchery. You might want to wash your hands afterword.

Massachusetts' four Catholic bishops have told pastors to remind parishioners this weekend of the church's opposition to same-sex marriage. The bishops have also asked that announcements be placed in church bulletins telling worshipers how to contact their legislators to express their opposition.

Alright! More power to the Catholic Church.

When someone writes a book to prove that their political leanings are right I'm suspicious. From what I've read about the author Scott Lively, he had a very anti-homosexual stance before writing the book. In fact, it seems to be his driving force.A lot of his allegations are tough to argue against but they're also tough to prove.

Something that might cause a bolt of lightning to strike pornographers if they didn’t constantly slither back under their rock.

Rocks have supernatural powers?

''So much for `He who is without sin should cast the first stone,'''

And so much for "Go and sin no more" as well.

Someone--anyone--besides the Catholic Church would be more effective with this message. It's probably having the opposite of the intended effect. The Church has lost all credibility on sexual issues.

Are the Protestant churches remaining silent? Are Protestants unified on this issue?

Rocks have supernatural powers?

The question was " What is church discipline?", not supernatural rocks. But if you need to pretend your rock has supernatural powers we'd all understand since it helps you escape from those little reminders from God.

NIV Galatians 5:13
You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.

NIV 1 Timothy 6:20-21
 20.  Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,
 21.  which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith.   Grace be with you.

NIV 1 Peter 3:10-11
 10.  For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.
 11.  He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.

NIV 2 Timothy 4:2
Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction.

NIV Titus 1:9
He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

NIV Titus 1:11
They must be silenced, because they are ruining whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach--and that for the sake of dishonest gain.

NIV Titus 2:6
Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.

NIV Titus 2:12
It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,

NIV Luke 3:8
Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, `We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

NIV Luke 19:40
"I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out."

Amen.

In real estate, they say there are three important criteria: location, location, and location.

As with scripture, it should be: context, context, and context. So many people repeat what Jesus said about casting the first stone, but never read further (or have never read) what He says right after that.

Thanks again.

Hey, it's Sunday Schools fault!

They have 'memory verses', little nuggets of wisdom that tend to vaccinate against entire Biblical truths.

One of my hardest things to do, as a Small Group Leader, is to get folks to read the Bible!

"I just KNOW that (whatever the statement or saying) is in the Bible somewhere!" is ANOTHER toughy: kinda hard to prove a negative, so I merely challenge them to find it and we'll definitely discuss it.

This is not the only book on the subject. I mentioned it to a german emigre who was from germany in the period. He confimed the bit about the hitler youth from his childhood experience.

Even if yoy don't consider this particular book. The Nazi's did meet in a gay bar for their formation. The nazi's did have homosexuals in the inner circle. The Nazi leader of march on Skokie was a homosexual. Rohem was a homosexual and did personally place homosexuals in places of authority. There was a faction of the Nazi party which printed a pamphlet publicly accusing the new leaders of the national socialist party of being taken over by homosexuals. The guards of the concentration camps did engage in homosexual conduct with prisoners.

Just because you personally don't like the authors, that does not mean the authors were not correct. people should read the book and decide for themselves. They are well documented.

They are documented much better that the queer revisionists of ancient history. The american professor who tried to queer acient king philip barely got out of greece with his life. There is zero documentation about alexander the great being a homosexual (not one reference not one parchment not one stone carving) but there is ample doucumentation that leaders would homosexualize the history of thei dead enemies to stigmatize them and make them weak. There is evidence of King Philip and his wife sending alexander to a woman of experience for training. There is evidence of alexanders love letters to his wife. There is evidence of alexanders love of his young son. There is evidence of the enemies of alexander hunting down and killing the wife and son. From this we conclude Alexander the Great was a homosexual. Only in quack american professor minds. The homosexualizing of alexander is a recent phenomenon. (would richard burton and elizabeth taylor really have made Alexander the Great if hollyweird believed the "secret" for thousands of years?)

Everyone should read the pink swastika and decide for themselves.

And there you have it, folks. This is what the Libertine Left has been after all these years.

For all her faults, the Catholic Church has more moral authority in the tiniest molecule of the Host than the entire sodomite movement can muster if you jammed all of them together in one giant bath house.

''I think it's really appalling,'' said Gary Daffin, a member of the Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus who is also Catholic. ''The leadership of the church right now has no moral authority to be beating up on gay people, and that's exactly what they're doing. The leadership of the church that covered up the most heinous crimes against children has the gall to come and say, `Well, we can't give any support to two people who want to love each other and take care of each other and make life a little more comfortable for each other.' The irony there is just glaring.''

Sure is, Gar. Imagine--homosexuals within the Church cause a scandal of immense magnitude that results from a Cardinal's resignation and you're amazed that now, they're coming out against "gay marriage." I think our friend Gary has been sniffing too much glue.

As Glenn Beck says, "Somebody get me the duct-tape."

Honestly, I'm amazed that they're showing the intestinal fortitude to oppose the measure considering, no doubt, there are still a lot of homosexuals in the Boston Archdiocese.

The leadership of the church that covered up the most heinous crimes against children ....sounds to me like they really believe that the priests that molested the children(mostly boys) were not homosexual men.

....talk about contradiction
