You know who I feel sorry for right now? Patrick Sheehan. Here he is, the early leader at 5 under, and he's a total afterthought because of the sideshow nature of this thing.

I make a 30 foot putt once every three or four rounds and I may not be the best putter but I'm far from the worst. With any putt over 20' you work on getting the speed right and you are lucky if it drops.
To: vrwinger
and you just KNOW she'll birdie the par 3 again!
To: Protagoras
If Tiger has a 15 footer you don't think that's concidered a birdie putt?It all depends. A 15 footer up hill is an easier birdie putt than a 6 foot left to right slider on fast greens.
To: NittanyLion
From what I've seen there aren't a lot of putts made in excess of 15 feet.I make lots of 'em. Of course I miss a bunch of four footers too.

Hole 6: 393 yards, par-4
After her first bogey, Sorenstam went back to work, hitting another fairway off the tee. Her approach shot settled on the green pin-high about 20 feet from the cup. She ran her birdie attempt about 5 feet past the hole, but sank the next (hitting the left edge) for PAR.
E on the round

LOL, I like that idea. Start the fund!

><> This isn't about "fairness" or those poor starving PGA men, this is about how a "girl" came to your playground and took her turn on the slide.
Well boo hoo. <><
And BRAVO!!! I can't add a thing...
To: discostu
Well she made her birdie on a 15 footer and has come within inches on a few more of those marginal and big. Seems to be getting her range. It's pretty easy stuff for a pro to lag a long putt to within a couple feet. Routinely sinking them is a different story; I expect Annika will need to knock her approaches to within 10 feet if she wants to start one-putting.
To: GallopingGhost
There is a ton of data to suggest that the cut will be at about 70. So she needs to shoot zero tomorrow to make the cut? :-)

She's ahead or tied with most of the men playing the same course. She's proving that she's deserving of being there.

I'm not even a Sorenstam fan I just like watching people eat crow, I wasn't, but I'm really impressed. If she can play this well, I'd love to see her get a card and start playing the tour. I hate set-asides, but love performers.
To: NittanyLion
Six footers are gimme's on tour. A six footer for par will test any pro, unless it's dead up the hill. Most pro's will routinely make 20-30 foot putts or more. Nonsense. I don't know where you get your impression from but if you miss a lot of six foot putts you aren't tour material. You don't average 27 putts per round unless you are hitting from 20 feet or better.
To: NittanyLion
ESPN:
Hole 7: 427 yards, par-4
She took driver out on this par-4, nailing her tee shot down the middle of the fairway about 255 yards. Her 170-yard approach shot found the front of the green.
To: jpl
LOL, Patty Sheehan is in the lead. And you all thought Annika was the top female... Oh, PATRICK Sheehan. Well that's completely different! ;^)
To: Protagoras
If a PGA player consistently makes 25 foot puts (over 50%), that player, assuming he is on the green in regulation, will be player and money won leader of the year. From 25 feet I would guess 1/3 would be above average.

That is what the media does. When Tiger 1st started playing it was hard to find out who won an event unless it was Tiger. The media distorts everything to play to their agenda. I think both Tiger and Annika are great but the media screws things up. I guess the other players out their working their butts off don't matter.
To: strela
If Sorensten DOES make the cut, the other networks might just as well put up test patterns on Sunday afternoon.Uh, I think The Indy 500 will garner its share of viewers too.

Haven't found official numbers but the stuff coming from Teacher is 3 to 6 inches on some of these. If that's accurate (the assumption for my projection) she's getting close. If it's more like a foot or two I'm with you.
