You can't buy peace, but I guess the House of Saud hasn't figured that out yet. "It is always a temptation to a rich and lazy nation,
To puff and look important and to say:
Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you.
We will therefore pay you cash to go away.
And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But weve proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.
"Danegeld", Rudyard Kipling

If it was the House of Saud, or their paramilitary arm (Al-Qaeda)... Correction from my above post.
Document for me how Al-Qaeda is the "paramilitary arm" of the immediate S.A. Royals. Al-Qaeda and the immediate S.A. royals hate each other.

Breaking news still on MSNBC off and on. How terrible this is.

"Hey Southack, You *sure* oil prices will be dropping?"Positive. In six months oil could be as low as $15 per barrel.
...And bombing civilians deep inland isn't going to impact oil sales, shipments, or pricing, either.

Counter-intuitive as it may seem, these blasts signal something very useful to know: that al-qaeda is feeble and weak.
You see, the terrorist trial for the first Bali bomber started today.
In response, the best that his buddies can do is to pop off a few small-scale explosions half a world away on their home turf in Saudi Arabia.
Oooooooh, that's some scary force projection...Not!

What if these are "dirty bombs"?
That's my real fear here. Lots of stuff missing from their neighbor's former arsenal.

"What if these are "dirty bombs"?"It doesn't matter. Popping off dirty bombs in the middle of the desert is a pretty weak way to expend munitions (compared to setting one off in an ultra-urban zone such as London), and something that our modern medicine will cure 95% of the time, anyway (especially if it's a bio-weapon).
Moreover, a dirty-bomb attack would frighten even the poor Europeans into realizing that Bush was right about WMD's all along.
In short, bring it on!

Re: Oil prices dropping...
Me thinks that OPEC knows that this will happen, too, what with Iraq about to unlease unlimited production on the world. That's why the report today (yesterday?) about OPEC inviting discussions with Russia (!) and other non-OPEC rival exporters. They want to set up a world-wide cartel to fend this off. Or at least encourage disciplined constraint (which may be difficult to muster, but they're gonna try).

1) AQ to U.S.: "Get out of Saudi Arabia or we will commit acts of terror on you."
2) U.S. announces it is leaving Saudia Arabia.
3) AQ attacks U.S. interests in Saudia Arabia.
Isn't there an utter lack of logic here?
You got Number 1 wrong, it should be. Us to Saudi, we are leaveing, see ya, take care of your own stupid selves.
