After three explosions over an hour and half ago, another bomb has now exploded in DOWNTOWN Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Shep Smith on FOXNEWS has just reported on this at 1821hrs CDT.

The attack is thought to be Al Qaieda and targeted a joint US/Saudi business.

The fact is, the Saudis have been paying protection money to Al Qaeda for some time. Now it's come back to bite them in the ass, and we are leaving the Saudis to their own devices.

The time will come when they can't blame us anymore.

Australian embassy probes blasts

May 13, 2003

EMBASSY staff are checking for Australian victims after a series of explosions in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

The blasts are believed to have involved at least one car bomb attack on a residential compound housing westerners.

Initial reports said many people were wounded when three explosions rocked the city. A fourth explosion has since been reported.

United States authorities said this morning they did not believe any Americans had been killed.

A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) spokesman said embassy staff were trying to ascertain whether any Australians were living in the compound or were otherwise affected by the blasts.

"We are aware of reports about a car bomb attack on a residential compound housing westerners," he said.

"At this point the Australian embassy is investigating these reports."

On May 1 this year, DFAT issued travel advice warning against any non-essential travel to Saudi.

Today's blasts came on the eve of a planned visit to Riyadh by US Secretary of State Colin Powell.

I have even more sympathy for Americans and other Westerners who risk their lives to help the Saudi people by working in their country, and an even higher level for servicemen who defend it.

I am sure extremists will cheer this action against western complexes. But it will connect many Saudi lives to this regardless. It will bolster the position of many moderate muslims everywhere who object to having their religion hijacked by these political activists who seek a return to acient tribal barbarianism.

It will also give us an argument for a higher level of co-operation from the Saudis. It is tragic that they have been remiss in their duty to stop this.

For the same reason we need to be in Afghanistan and Iraq:

Either we fight the terrorists on their home turf, or we must fight them on ours.

Uh, big difference here. Afghanistan and Iraq were openly declared as enemies of the great Satan. Saudi Arabia is supposed to be our "ally". The rulers of Saudi Arabia have declared themselves to be our "allies". We are invited there. Now we are being attacked there.

What is the compelling reason our sons and daughters should be targets in Saudi Arabia? Unless, you want to tell me we should take the country over and kick their @ss, I say get the h#ll out.

OK..... that was not nice.

I think ALL Americans there, not just military, should leave....... and let the Saudis handle the problem of terrorists in their backyard...... much like Putin now has to do after what just happened there. We Americans can get tired of being blamed for every bomb that some terrorist wants to set off. At least I'm tired of being blamed. We're the goo guys, but other governments, much less their people, don't seem to think that.

I think all americans should leave the country. Period. If it becomes another Iraq and a REAL terrorist state, then we take care of it as a country, like we did in Iraq,,,,,,,

If you truly believe there are no terrorists in Saudi Arabia, that there is no continuing terrorist threat and that we have no business being in Saudi Arabia, then there is nothing I can do for you.

Except maybe suggest that you review the news of the area for the past 20 years.
