Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

"Sometimes I wonder if all this fresh air and clean water is really worth it."It's only worth it if you are happy, IMHO.

Hear me out first BEFORE you check out this link:
I must say that this is a surprising article: surprising at how well it is written and what it says. STAY with me now... this is the ARAB NEWS ... you must anticipate and expect a fair amount of antiAmerica and antiBush statements, so IGNORE those and look at the rest of the article... (they do, however, merit a BARF alert if not ignored)
Read the article carefully ignoring those, and it appears to be a truly accurate depiction of the world situation right now. If the Arab world is starting to see all those other pieces, all that has to happen is for them to have revealed to them that America is not the "Great Satan"... and with the imams of Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and even some in Iraq starting to support the US, this revelation may not be impossible to achieve.
I'm impressed and encouraged by this article.

Rick L on Fox just mentioned that they're seeing SUVs w/ "UN" marked on the side . . . but the UN has been gone for weeks . . . presumed stolen . . . I don't know what's scarier, UN trucks with UN people or with 'Raqis!

Shep Smith just decided to lecture his viewers the constitution and freedom of the press, and how the poor slobs at the Palestine hotel are being gagged (in effect) by Iraqi minders. And that we all show bow down and thank them for being there for us. He even equated their service with that of the actual guys doing the fighting.
Excuse me, Shemp, but the journalists in Baghdad were warned on multiple and continuing occasions that the city is a war zone.
Your argument does not hold up.

More people in the roundabout.

FR is hanging on me too. Dialup here, 49K on a good night. It did this also last night.
To: pitinkie
Thank you, pitinkie.
Now I can go to sleep with a smile on my face (that makes my husband think I've been sneaking chocolate again).

It's the whining from them in the hotel..They want aguarantee we won't shoot when shot at..The arrogance that they are more important than civilian Iraqis that I hate. You don't hear it from all and never from the imbeds.

This is what Shep said, almost word for word.
Shep on journalists shot at hotel: Founding fathers felt we needed freedom of the press so that regular citizens could check up on the government. Those people who are over there have Iraqi minders with them. How different are these minders from the military? These reporters went over there and aer scared for their lives, and who wouldn't be? They are there for you, just like those soldiers, and I pray that they come home safe.
He made the point that they are in a war-zone. He's responding to emails saying, "they deserve getting killed."

A ballet is probably pretty demoralizing for men. They appreciate the males agility but are probably extremely jealous of the males "firm buns".

Hey, SHEP!
We didn't say "Screw those journalists"...
We said "They're not THE STORY! Tell us about it, and MOVE ON!"
These people need to get a grip and get back to the News...
[Sorry, I'm just sick of it...]

I am proud!
I've blasted these threads with the photo of my other nephew. This is the most recent photo I've seen of my elder nephew.
What the heck is on his face, though? A camo bandana?

For those Freepers without Foxnews, search around
http://www.shoutcast.com for a Foxnews audio feed. They are usually 8kbps audio so accessible to dialup users. They can support only a limited number of listeners (20 or 30 max) though..
