This is what Shep said, almost word for word.

Shep on journalists shot at hotel: Founding fathers felt we needed freedom of the press so that regular citizens could check up on the government. Those people who are over there have Iraqi minders with them. How different are these minders from the military? These reporters went over there and aer scared for their lives, and who wouldn't be? They are there for you, just like those soldiers, and I pray that they come home safe.

He made the point that they are in a war-zone. He's responding to emails saying, "they deserve getting killed."

So we're supposed to ignore their possible shading the truth just because they have a minder? Sorry, that doesn't wash with me.

Regards.

The problem with Shep's argument is that in Iraq, the U.S. Constitution has no bearing. There are no first amendment rights when you have a minder standing behind you holding a gun up to your head.

These people were duly warned. They made the choice to go and now they must accept responsibility for their decision. They are in the middle of a war - not a hollywood production - they need to wisen up and stop believing everything that comes out of Baghdad Bob's mouth!
