Female suicide bombers attacked US troops

Iraq's state news agency has claimed two Iraqi women carried out a suicide attack on US forces north-west of Baghdad.

The claim appeared to refer to a blast hours earlier at a checkpoint that killed three coalition soldiers, a pregnant woman and the car's driver.

Arabic satellite station Al-Jazeera later carried videos of two women vowing to commit suicide attacks.

It did not specify if the two were involved in the explosion earlier in the day, but it broadcast their statements immediately after mentioning the Iraqi news agency report.

US Central Command said the car exploded at a US special operations checkpoint in western Iraq. Brigadier General Vincent Brooks said it wasn't clear if the pregnant woman voluntarily took part in the attack.

The apparent suicide attack was about 11 miles south-west of the Haditha Dam. The site is north-west of Baghdad and about 80 miles east of the Syrian border.

Al-Jazeera broadcast separate tapes of two Iraqi women, each of whom stood in front of the Iraqi flag, brandishing an automatic rifle. The videotapes were similar to those of Palestinian suicide bombers distributed after attacks against Israelis.

A woman who identified herself as "martyrdom-seeker Nour Qaddour al-Shanbari" said: "We say to our leader and holy war comrade, the hero commander Saddam Hussein, that you have sisters that you and history will boast about."

In a separate video, another woman, who identified herself as Wadad Jamil Jassem, said: "I have devoted myself to jihad for the sake of God and against the American, British and Israeli infidels and to defend the soil of our precious and dear country."

Why is it so difficult to stop ALL vehicles, whether they are driven by military, civilians, men, women, rugrats, whatever! Shoot out the tires, blow big potholes in front of the thing, put up "Jersey barriers", etc. But DO NOT let any vehicles through.

The people should be forced to get out, strip down to their Calvins, spread eagle on the sand. Then, if they are clean of any explosives, chemicals, weapons, etc. they can line up for processing - either as prisoners or sent on their way.

In the meantime, the vehicle they were driving is toasted from about 100 meters.

Thanks for posting that! I have been thinking this all day since I heard about the bombing. Make them get out of the vehicle, blow it up and they can worry about transportation later!
