He's definitely alive because he's repeating propaganda that his own gang put out? Of course some kind of planes or choppers were gonna come down and they were gonna take bogus credit. I ain't biting.

I can just hear the democrat talking points... Why havn't we killed Sadam ? We were mislead.. I'm concerned that Sadam is still alive. etc..
To: TexasGunLover
Another mostly generic tape. Sure he mentions that a farmer had shot down an Apache. When our 1st Apache fell, the Iraqi Information Minister immediateley claimed the helicpoter was shoot down by a farmer with small arms.
If Saddam is still alive and making a fresh tape to broadcast to his people, he would mention IMPORTANT recent events which were at least somewhat unpredicable, not mentioning some event which could have been planned to be announced on IraqiTv after the 1st coalition helicopter fell.

Has anyone seen 'Black Hawk Down'? I havent. Is this how they brought down the Helecopters in that movie, by smaller gun fire? No by shoulder fired SAMs.

The other day a Freeper came up with the idea that Saddam might to hiding out in the basement of the Russian embassy. Seems the Russians put out a call for a doctor after the bombing. Then when we bombed the other day, the Russians who previously said they had closed their embassy in Baghdad were screeching like a bunch of wounded banchees about how the Americans were bombing in the neighborhood and could hurt their diplomats. The same diplomats that were removed from Baghdad or Russian advisors with Saddam in the basement?

They could have easily "planted" the earlier story about a farmer shooting down a helicopter. I mean, it sounds pretty goofy to me. They could have said it, knowing that they had a tape of Saddam in the can that mentions the story.
If Saddam is not dead yet, he will be soon and if he IS alive, he sure is a crappy war planner!

My thoughts exactly.

You're assuming that Saddam would be obsessed with proving he's alive, just because we're obsessed with finding out if he's alive. Iraqis' perceptions are not the same as our perceptions. They've been through two wars with this guy -- one that lasted eight years and claimed hundreds of thousands of lives. They understand how he operates. He isn't going to dance to the Pentagon press officers' tune.

Ooops, nope, this one doesn't have glasses, now that I put mine on!
But his shoulders don't seem wide enough.

Yeah, I thought that Apache went down because of mechanical difficulties. It looked fully intact in the footage on television. I heard that the recent Black Hawk crash was not brought down by hostile fire either. It's hard to keep track when news comes out so quickly from embedded reporters.

If you had almost eaten a 2000 pounder, don't you think you'd like the coalition forces to think you were dead. That might keep him at a relatively low profile at present. He's still alive. It's not that easy to kill pure evil.

"The official Iraqi explanation of the AH-64 downing (mechanical no doubt) was crafted to jibe with the tape that Saddam made before his death..."
I think you're right on about that. Has the same sort of stench that the supposed "errant tomahawk" strikes on the eastern edges of Baghdad (Shiite neighborhoods) that killed some 20 civilians. It's like everything about this war - form the Iraqi side - was scripted and is playing out like a bad B-movie from the 1930s...
