Troop Prayer Thread 4

Posted on 03/28/2003 11:26:53 PM PST by TEXOKIE

Edited on 03/29/2003 3:57:38 PM PST by Admin Moderator. [history]

Welcome to the Troop Prayer Thread! We gather here together in the belief that "whereever two or more are gathered in my name, there am I," and that by the grace of God, group prayer effort can be a great force for good in the world.

We are listing here members of the active armed services known to us for whom we want to pray. We are also seeking to keep track of the Captured/MIAs here for prayer purposes.

If you would like to submit someone for our list, you are welcome to do so at any time. Post their name or pseudonym here on the thread or freepmail amom or myself. If we have made any errors, please let us know so that we may correct the list. We will be making periodic updates. If you want to be added or removed from the ping list please let amom or me know by freepmail.

We invite everyone, active Freepers and Lurkers alike to join our circle in prayer for these fine men and women who have volunteered to place their lives on the line for the defense of our nation and for the liberation of the oppressed peoples of other nations. To them we send our greatest respect and gratitude. We send them our prayers and good thoughts. We ask for God's blessing upon them and their families.

For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly appropriate, and as much as possible, non-moving graphics. Thank you.

The brave men and women who have been captured or are missing.

I echo the relief and joy of FrogMom and amom and everyone here as we have witnessed the rescue of our POWs on Sunday. Thank you for helping us keep vigil on them, FrogMom. Thank you, amom, for assembling and keeping current the list of our precious troops for us.

I wish to express my gratitude to all who participate on this thread and on patriciaruth's prayer thread, whether by posting or by lurking. I have felt so tangibly the many prayer bullets which we have forged together here at FreeRepublic. We have seen so many of our specific prayers being answered despite all odds to the contrary. I have the mental image that not only did we forge spiritual bullets here, we were able, by God's grace, to manufacture spiritual tanks, and smart bombs, and very special protective armor. I feel quite certain that as we read newspaper and magazine accounts over the coming years, we will learn of many miracles, and we can praise God and breathe a sigh of gratitude for perhaps being a small part in making those miracles possible. I have the mental image that the prayer ammunition we forged here was taken by God and His angels and combined with the prayer bullets forged by the many prayer circles and individual prayer warriors all over the world holding vigil throughout this conflict.

We have seen our God in Heaven incline his ear and have mercy on us. He has listened to our group and individual prayers and acted so many times in favor of our requests. We have seen how God does multiply the effect of prayer when numbers of His children gather together for a good cause. I am so grateful that various prayer warriors got together to make these prayer threads possible.

Even though the regime has been declared ended, our President has told us the war is not over. We still have MIA's out there. We are aware of the grieving families whose son or daughter isnt coming home and for whom we wish to pray. These are crucial times in a newly freed nation, where the cause of Freedom is in a delicate vulnerable state and could be hijacked by inimical forces. Many of the troops on our list are not yet home, and there will be others sent into Iraq, Afghanistan, and other places to perform their duties in harm's way.

It is my thought, if others concur, that we may want to consider continuing this prayer thread as long as we are sending our troops into hot conflicts. It would be interesting, and helpful, imho, to hear comments and your thoughts about our prayer thread and what focus and direction it should take over the coming months. I have appreciated so much the way different folks have stepped forward to lead us in prayer, or Bible readings. Links and pictures and articles relevant to our efforts have also been helpful. All who have posted here with their bumps and gentle humor have made me so grateful and proud to be a part of this circle of prayer warriors. Thank you.

Our Liberating Father,

Such joy and such humble and immense gratitude we feel Oh Lord, for you have taken all of our prayers and caused the safe return of our POWs. You have caused unimaginable joy in the families of Kuwaiti prisoners who were rescued. You caused the enemy to crumble in his last stronghold. You caused rejoicing in the streets of the newly liberated Iraqi people. You are working your work today in the beginnings of the establishment of order and a new government in that nation. We praise you, Our Father, for you are worthy to be praised.

While we feel such incredible joy, and cling to it, we nevertheless feel the grief of those families who have lost their son or daughter to the conflict. We feel the sacrifice of limb or healthy body from those who have been wounded. Father, we still have Missing troops. Please help us find them! Move the hearts of those who know of their whereabouts to tell us. We ask, Father, that you will grant these families and veterans who have sacrificed so much our love, your comfort, and the sure knowledge of our gratitude. We ask that you will somehow convey to them the high honor and stature with which we esteem them. We ask this not only for the veterans, missing, and honored dead from this conflict, but any and all wars or conflicts in which we have been engaged.

Many in our nation regret the dreadful mistakes made in the treatment of our troops we sent to VietNam. We still have missing from there. Father, grant somehow a resolution to the agony of not-knowing to those families who still await the return of their sons. We now have a memorial wall of healing for her dead, but many veterans did not receive and have not ever received the love and appreciation they were due. Father, help us as a nation to make amends for this oversight directly to the individual hearts of these precious veterans and their families. Help us as a nation to have that lesson seared into our collective memory so that never more will there be such mistreatment of such noble souls.

Beloved Father, we see this day the Iraqi people embarking on their first meetings of being able to forge a new form of government based on free expression. Ironically, we have heard reports that some of the groups there have boycotted the talks in protest! While it could be viewed as regrettable, Father, what an amazing joy it is to see these groups experience the freedom TO protest! For whatever reason, they dont like it, and they want something different. Father, we ask that you will please overshadow all deliberations on the part of the interim American governors, the returning exiled Iraqis, and the various factions of the indigenous Iraqi people. We have heard reports that there are elements in the region and even in our own government who for various motives, do not see a true democratic/representative/parliamentary form of government being conducive for stability in the region.

Father, we do not know what your will is, but we do ask that you will take command over this entire process and work your will. We suspect that a democratic/representative/parliamentary form of government is in line with your Plan, so on that assumption, we do ask that you will render all opposition to it ineffective according to thy will. Expose any and all issues or motives or talking points based on Lies. Bind all interference on the part of those who wish to bring about other forms of government which will be despotic, whether secular or religious in nature. We ask that you will bind elements within the worldwide media which may be aligned against your Plan. Again, Father, we acknowledge we know not your Will, and so we ask that you will adjust our prayers in this regard to be in alignment with that Holy Will.

We continue to ask for the protection of our troops on the ground. There are snipers and suicide murderers yet plotting and planning in the shadows. Place your all seeing eye over them and reveal them before they can injure or kill any more of our young people. We ask that you will continue swaddling our troops in the invincible prayer light substance. Keep your angels with them. Guide, guard, direct, protect them all. Grant them all vision and clarity and quick reflexes to react to danger.

Guide our President and his cabinet, our Representatives and the Senate, on further actions in the region. Send your angels through the halls of government for the realignment of our representatives to the Vision and the Truth which we pray you will bestow upon them. We ask that you will reveal the Truth and Vision not only for the governance of Iraq, but for any and all issues before the Executive and Congressional branches and the bureaucracies this day and in the days to come. Blaze forth your Truth and Vision about all domestic issues as well as all foreign ones. Send your angels throughout our nation for the uniting of our people behind the Truth and Vision you will reveal to our leaders and our people.

Father, this is a day of Joy, and we thank you for it. Take our prayers and multiply them and let them be adjudicated so that they are in alignment with thy Will. We do not desire to pray amiss. Perform thy will in the world. We vote with our prayers for YOUR Plan! YOUR Vision! YOUR Truth! Grant us and our leaders and all peoples the wisdom to seek out and HEAR your gentle voice of guidance.

Amen

My two cents:

We need to keep the prayer going. In victory, we are the most vulnerable. Remember King Hezekiah, who went to the Lord in prayer when Jerusalem was attacked. The king prayed and they were miraclously delivered. Later, the king went to prayer when he was dying. After he was healed, he was most arrogant and showed off his wealth to the Babalonians. After his death, his son was the most evil king up to that point and lead the nation into captivity to the Babalonians, who remembered all the wealth Hezekiah showed off and took it.

We need to keep watch, especially when things seem to be going well.

Amen.

We need to keep it going! Shoshanna's mother said that God heard the prayers sent up for her daughter and she was not worried through the captivity because, one way or the other, Shoshanna was in His hands.

How can we stop, now?

Hugs to all!

Your beautiful message pretty much covers it all! Yes, we need to continue our prayers [already enumerated], and ask God to protect all who fight terrorism.

Your#264...................Amen!.............yes!!!

We have seen our God in Heaven incline his ear and have mercy on us. He has listened to our group and individual prayers and acted so many times in favor of our requests. We have seen how God does multiply the effect of prayer when numbers of His children gather together for a good cause.

I echo the relief and joy of FrogMom and amom and everyone here as we have witnessed the rescue of our POWs on Sunday.

Guide our President and his cabinet, our Representatives and the Senate, on further actions in the region.

AMEN,.......MORE GRACE AND MERCY,........IN JESUS' PRECIOUS NAME, AMEN!!!

Maranatha!

"We experience miracles all around us as we pray...

We just need to be open in Faith to see them. "

A good point very well said!
