I would like to believe this guy is cooperating with the FBI -- BUT, I'm not sure I would trust him at all.

Lying to an Arab is a game (apologies to the Arabs who don't lie). Arabs lie to show they can "get over" on someone. I would take this with "a grain of salt"...

Last week, the FBI put out an urgent alert for Adman El Shukrijumah, a 27-year-old Saudi student who had pilot training and attended college in south Florida. They have been getting lots of reported sightings of this guy - there's another thread in Breaking News about it now...

We're in the beginning of a long period of "21st Century warfare" with Islamism. The sooner the politicians and media deal with this soberly and justly, the better.

First, it is Islam.
Second, we are not in a war with Islam. We are in a war with radical Islam.
If Islam were the enemy, then we would be at war with billions of people, and obviously we are not. In fact, the attitude on the Muslim street, especially from those who have felt the liberty brought by Americans, is much more favorable than that felt by Christian Europeans.
I don't mean to be insulting or politcally correct, but keep religion out of this.

I have a feeling they could get anything out of him at this point. They probably opened up a whole bag of tricks (and pain) on this animal.

Last week, the FBI put out an urgent alert for Adman El Shukrijumah, a 27-year-old Saudi student who had pilot training and attended college in south Florida. I may be all wet here, but as far as I know the logical step of calling in ALL visas from Middle Eastern countries, requiring the holders of those visas to come in for an interview and additional background check, was never taken.
Perhaps the way they are doing this--actually identifying people who represent credible threats based on actual intelligence--is better than my idea.
But all it would take is for ONE of these cells to get to its target, and you'll have another building on the ground, and scores of people dead.
Frightening thought.

Am I the only one who thinks we're probably at war with someone else who is only using 'islam' as a 3rd party contractor, or am I just way too paranoid?

Actually, I agree with his use of the term "Islamism," as distinct from "Islam," and I appreciate his use of the term.
"Islamism" is a radicalized, bastardized form of "Islam," much as "fascism" is an extreme, twisted form of nationalism.
In fact, whether you call it "Pan Arabism" or "radical Islamism", it is obviously THE threat we are facing right now.
And the comparison with fascism is apt. The Ba'ath party came into being during the time that Iraq was a Nazi puppet, and was originally modeled on Nazism, much as fascism in Hungary, Romania, Finland and other Nazi client states.
In turn, Saddam uses radical Islamism to suit is own ends. So, in fact, does Osama, and others like them.
This is just the adoption by this segment of the third world, of old tried-and-true fascism.
Hey, Nasser did it, Idi Amin did it, and whats-his-name in Myanmar did it.
With Communism in eclipse (somewhat), we need to remember that TOTALITARIANISM hasn't given up, not at all!

No, I think you're right.
We're at war with TOTALITARIANISM. We've been preoccupied for years with the Communist franchise, but it looks like the other little brothers are now coming out of the woodwork.

Thank you for your post. Please consider the following.
RW: First, it is Islam.
RW: Second, we are not in a war with Islam. We are in a war with radical Islam.
unspun: For the disctinction between Islam and Islamism, see
http://www.danielpipes.org/article/366 - Islam and Islamism - Faith and Ideology, Daniel Pipes, National Interest, Spring 2000
RW: If Islam were the enemy, then we would be at war with billions of people, and obviously we are not. In fact, the attitude on the Muslim street, especially from those who have felt the liberty brought by Americans, is much more favorable than that felt by Christian Europeans.
unspun: I did not say Islam, you did.
RW: I don't mean to be insulting or politcally correct, but keep religion out of this.
unspun: There is nothing that you or I or anyone can do, to keep religion out of the attack of Israel, America, the West, and if left unchecked, potentially the World, by Islamists. This imperative statement is equivalent to saying "Keep racism and fascism out of this," to America, during WWII, or saying "Keep consideration of Marxism and totalitarian ideology out of this," to America, during the Cold War.

"some of the names given by Mohammed were new." Must have a few people wondering. Nah, he would never give up that. Would he?
