(CBS) Ten U.S. soldiers were injured, six or seven of them seriously, in a grenade and small arms attack at Camp Pennsylvania in northern Kuwait, reports CBS News Correspondent Mark Strassmann, who is traveling with the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division.
Strassmann said the grenades were rolled into two commanders' tents at the camp. When officers ran from the tents, they were hit by small arms fire.
"From our reports it appears that a terrorist penetrated Camp Pennsylvania, one or more terrorists threw two hand grenades into a tent," said George Heath, spokesman at Fort Campbell, home base of the 101st.
Strassman said three suspects were being held for questioning, two Kuwaitis who served a translators and an American soldier described as a black Muslim.
The injured soldiers were rushed to a field hospital but military officials had no word on their conditions, Lt. Cmdr. Charles Owens said from Camp As Sayliyah in Qatar.
The military did not identify the unit of the 101st that was in the camp but said it had been in Kuwait for about one week. Most of the division has entered southern Iraq.
Separately, Strassmann reported, an Iraqi rocket fired at U.S. forces in Kuwait was destroyed by Patriot missiles launched from nearby Camp New Jersey.
The terror and missile attack came as the U.S. assault on Iraq gained steam. American and British forces besieged the southern city of Basra and pounded Baghdad with impunity. But tough fighting loomed for coalition troops as they pressed deeper into Iraq.

This cannot distract from the mission. It's a horrible story, with the potential to hurt morale and divert the media. Frankly, all Muslims are potentially dangerous right now, they must be watched carefully and not allowed opportunity to harm. None of them. We have a war to win which will liberate thousands of Iraqi Muslims. Thank God these wounded soldiers will survive apparently, and pray this incident won't adversely affect the war momentum.

I'm white, and I'm with you; better that he be white... Are you a self-flagellant or do you usually let others do it?
To: MEG33
I won't. I called the exactly to my wife before it was revealed on the news.

I don't remember it that way at all but if everyone else is saying he did and I'm in the minority here...then I guess your right. I'd like to say I'd like to see the footage of the father again but if he really did say that then the networks are better off not showing it. I bet the soldier who died fighting for our country would be downright embarrassed over his fathers statements. He (the fallen soldier) should be treated with dignity and honor, not pity and disgrace - as if his death meant nothing. It's sad really.

Wasn't there a sign that protesters were carrying about soldiers turning and firing on their commanders? Well, we just pray for the 10 wounded in Jesus name. Why yes, there was such a sign. Perhaps there is an A.N.S.W.E.R. connection. That would be a good thing as it would draw a great deal of attention to that organization.
And yes, praying is a good idea. I'm not the most religious man in the world, but I'll say a little prayer for the wounded.

he obviously wasn't so grief-stricken as to eschew entreaties from broadcasters. if he wanted to be alone with his grief, he pretty much blew the chance.

Guy on FNC says of the 13 Islamic chaplains in the military 9 are of the radical Wahabi faction. WTF is going on here? Have we been infiltrated? Is this the surprise Saddam has in mind. Do these guys fly planes and can they drop bombs on our troops?
To: wardaddy
There probably are more black Islamic converts than white ones because of the heavy recruiting (Saudi-funded) Islamic prison chaplains have done in the jails among young black men who had no religion whatsoever. They're not all "Black Muslims" (members of the Nation of Islam), but are simply converts to Islam who are black. Some of the people involved in the first WTC bombing were black converts to Islam, but not NOI, as were some of the people thought to have been involved in OKC (aside from McVey, who had his own agenda).
There definitely are white Muslims, however, not only in the US but abroad. Islamics are recruiting heavily in Mexico, for example. And it is not unusual in the university town where I live to see kids who are clearly the product of white suburban America trotting around in their Islamic garb. They get glowing coverage in our local paper, of course (hint - it's a New York Times paper...).

For the sake of safety and for the well being of our troops and our nation, I will continue to insist that our nation is not safe from the Muslims while they are among us. Just listening of Fox that 9 of the Muslim chaplains in the armed services are Wahhabis. What kind of nonsense is that? Right, religion of peace.......

It is problematic that one of our enlisted men went boingo, if the reports are true. Out of 250,000 I'll bet we have a number of others who are problems for one reason or another, fights, insubordination etc.
The fact that we only had one guy flip out like this, is actually a good thing. I'm not sure you can prevent every potential flip-out from entering our armed services.
If they know this man did the deed, he should be executed.

I have no doubt they will. I await their political demise with great anticipation.

This sounds like John Allen Muhammad all over again!
However, I have to consider the source CBS(puke)
More than likely they want to fire up the conservatives
into going after black muslims.
To: SAMWolf
Well, if he's the one who did it, I say, kill him!
To: McCool
" I don't want the religion accepted by our society" I agree, but it may be too late unless there are a lot of these kinds of incidents. Even then I think it would be the people who'd run them out; not the law.

That idiot turned a personal tragedy into a political statement. Why didn't he blame the Marine Corps also?
That would not be political.
