While all attention is on improvements in our weaponry, the most devastating imbalance between the forces of the U.S.-led coalition and those of Iraq lies in the realm of information.

I told my wife we sent the message to the world. If you act like this, we aren't going to kill all of your people, we will kill YOU - the tyrant behind the madness. It's a great message for every despot, present and future.

And the day will come, if not immediately, when we will, indeed, be able to reach beyond the frightened privates to punish the privileged few who endanger humanity. Ruling classes have traditionally, typically, and nearly universally identified more closely with other ruling castes than with their own subjects. Assassination is a righteous and Biblical mode of warfare. Ehud, the first judge of Israel, won his people's freedom and God's approval that way.

This is the kind of advance in warfare I have dreamed about for years, there is one catch though. The leaders of the nation who possess this great power must be above the normal human urge to dominate others. I doubt that human nature is going to undergo a sudden revolution to match that of warfare.

Well stated. Bush puts his own life on the line when implementing this doctrine.
Artillery facing south won't protect Kim in North Korea if the situation escalates.

George W. is another Ronald Reagan. Remember that it was Reagan who instead of punishing Libya for the hijacking of airplanes, instead bombed Khaddafi himself. That sent a powerful message as well. George W. is contrinuing that great tradition of sparing the innocent and punishing the guilty.
