Free Republic
| March 18, 2003

Posted on 03/18/2003 6:51:02 PM PST by Jim Robinson
To All Posters of Articles, News, and Announcements, etc:
For the duration of the war on Iraq, we would like to reserve the "Breaking News" category for news items that are pertaining to truly breaking news stories. Please post other news stories to Front Page, Editorial, Extended, or News categories as appropriate.
For the time being, please post announcements or news of rallies, chapter events, radio shows, TV shows and other items that are normally allowed in breaking news to Activism, Announcements, Free Republic, News, State categories, etc., as appropriate.
Please try to keep vanity posts or personal posts to a minimum or post them to the appropriate topics in the General Interest forum.
(notice that I did not post this announcement in breaking news)
Thanks very much for your continued support in this effort to keep our news forum focused on the news and for making Free Republic the premier conservative news forum on the planet.
Jim

Don't forget to fly your flags when the fur flies. (And I know, a lot of us never took them down since 911) But it might be a good day to get a nice, bright one out of the closet and retire that venerable faded Old Glory with honor. Contact your local VFW or American Legion post regarding proper disposition, please.

Hey Jim? To save bandwith and not use valuable space, why do we NOT post about Blix or the UN, unless it is important? Seriously.

Hi there, it's another LIBBY! :) I wish people would not always see ulterior motives behind posts being moved... I've always found the mods pretty good at explantions if they are given a chance.

I genuinely hope we ( you ) don't need the following information, but keep it handy:

Anticipating the outbreak of war with Iraq, and the anticipated overloading of Free Republic's server, I'm setting up this topic for refugees.

My best to you and Dan, and all those near to you. I hope our security forces will spare continental America most or all the ravages of terror, but it is best to stay alert and be prepared. See my tagline...

I just tried to start a thread focused on the fact the Left Wing Reactionaries at Democratic Underground are already calling our troops murderers. I feel this is breaking news and I really dont understand why the thread was pulled (the note about the thread being pulled directs to this thread). I think it is extremely important to point out where the extreme left is going. Somebody needs to explain to me why this is not breaking news and why that thread warrants being pulled.

My question was why. I do believe DU already starting to call our troops murderers IS breaking news and it is not a "vanity" post. Can anybody address the "Why" in this question? In my mind, this is very much "breaking news"
