Peace marches? War protests? Anti-bombing demonstrations? What's the right term?
vanity | February 16, 2002 | southernnorthcarolina

Excuse the vanity post. I'll make it brief.

There are more stories than I care to count, and a commensurate number of FR threads, on peace marches, war protests, anti-bombing demonstrations, anti-military rallies, call them what you will. And what should they be called?

May I suggest a little straightforward language? When you discuss the matter with friends and family, when you write letters to the editor, when you call a talk radio program, refer to them as anti-American rallies. Because the unvarnished truth is, whether these assemblies take place in Baghdad, Paris, London, or Charlotte, that's what they are.

The participants, of course, aren't going to want to hear it. But what else are they doing, if not giving aid and comfort to the enemy? To call them "appeasers" would be to state the obvious; with regard to U.S. citizens, I don't think "traitors" is too strong.

Some participants in these anti-American rallies will, once military action begins in earnest, loudly claim that they now "support our troops," even though they disagree with the war. Don't let them get away with it. Their belated lukewarm "support" won't be needed, and it won't be welcome. Remind them that they participated in anti-American rallies, and that their loyalties are already a matter of record. The truth is, the U.S. protesters consist overwhelmingly of those who wish for George W. Bush to fail, no matter the cost to our armed forces, to our country, or to the civilized world.

To truly understand what and who is behind these phony-baloney rallies: FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!!!!

Ok, I give, where does the money come from and where does it go?

OMG....that is horrible! What is wrong with these people?? For not wanting violence...they are pretty violent.

And they have been for decades, in my personal experience. That they "don't want violence" -- well, that's just what they say, and as you can see here that is a flat-out lie.

What they want is to be the only ones able to be violent; they want the rest of us to disarm so they can rule.

They do not even deserve the term 'peacenik'....nothing about their rallies/activities suggests this...

On the way to the Austin Marathon this morning, (site of yet more thousand of useful idiots in the streets hating America and worshipping tyrants and terrorists) I had the pleasure of tuning into KRLD in Dallas and hearing some of the crap that these idiots were spewing.

paraphrase:
"I am bothered by the fact that France cares about my own safety more than this evil government.... (shouting) Viva La France! Viva La France! Viva La France!"

Thats the way it is with these anti-Americans. They keep demanding that we "don't shove your morality down our throat". And "You can't legislate morality". Yet you look at their bumperstickers that demand you do something for them. Look at their petitions that demand you sacrifice your money and time for them, Hear their protests that you sacrifice your time, money and life for them. On and on.

These hatefilled pukes care only about one thing. Themselves. This idiot mentioned above was typical of all the rantings by the other seditionists. Basically "Give us all of your money, sacrifice all of your freedoms, live like paupers and slay your children for our sake."

OK, what do we get in return? "Viva La France!"

OK, then go hit up the french and tell them to quit smoking, pay your college tuition, underwrite your housing, protect your ass from criminals, and the thousands of other things that these hypocrites demand we provide for them.

Make human shields out of all of them!

When and if a rally comes to your town, wherever it may be, several participants will get their names in the paper. Odds are, even if the article doesn't say as much, you'll be able to connect some of the participants to your local Democratic Party, the Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood, the NAACP, PETA, or any number of liberal special interest groups, even those with no obvious ties to foreign policy or defense issues. The common thread will be that 99% of them opposed George Bush's election, frequently to such an extent that they justify working for or hoping for foreign policy or domestic economy failures under his watch, so as to get him defeated in 2004.

These peaceniks are going to do the same thing to returning veterans, that they did to Vietnam veterans. Attack them with movies, articles in mags, hate speech, etc. Their minions in congress will try to slash benefits and break the promise. Employment opportunities will be denied so the veterans will seek jobs on government projects, where this behavior is illegal.

In my gerneration we were called the silent majority. We were working and did not have time for protests like the pot smoking hippies. We joined the military because the country called and got spit on later. Silent no more.

Spit on a veteran you will get your ass kicked. Burn a flag you will get your ass kicked. Nobody saw anything, right ?

I wouldn't let them get away with trying to separate anti-Bush from anti-American. They are trying to make that distinction, but I think the original poster is right. Deep down, these are anti-America, not just anti-Bush actions. Especially among the leaders.

I think that all we need to know is that if their hero Klintoon the Sink Emperor were pursuing this action, they would be bowing down before him as if he were God Himself liberating the people of Iraq.

Their hypocrisy, while breathtaking in its stupidity and hate-filled arrogance, is not surprising.

was this one of the cops charging into crowds with his horse?

Nothing of the sort was reported out here -- and the papers here aren't exactly kind to cops who overstep the line.

Even though I live in California, I live in an area that is mostly Republican around Palm Springs. President Ford has retired here as well as many other well do do's.

It made me very sad on Saturday to see a long line of war protestors march down the street where I work. It is a very upscale shopping area. I did hear a lot of boo's as they went by. There were many signs bashing President Bush and I wished at the time that I also had a sign to hold up that we must support our President, our country and our military at this most dangerous time in our history.

I thought before they are allowed to protest they should be given a test of 20 questions on current events. I would be willing to bet they are as dumb as those people that Jay Leno interviews on his Jaywalking segments. I don't think one of them would know who the participants are in any of this!!

I agree! They're anti-America, and we are pro-America! Or maybe we are "pro-choice", since we favor a "choice" to go to war with Iraq. Hmm...

For sure they are Anti-Bush protests designed to sway public opinion for the 2004 election.
