• Shocker: Sanders Supporters Want Free Stuff From Government,

Typical leftists–they want free stuff, but they don’t want to pay for it. In a poll conducted by Vox and Morning Consult during the first week in April, they found that supporters for Sen. Bernie Sanders unsurprisingly have strong support for things like free college tuition and universal health care. They register at 70+ percent in favor for both initiatives. Then, the question turns to how much are they willing to pay for Sanders' agenda. This is where support dips dramatically, especially when two in three Bernie-ites don’t want to pay more than $1,000 for a single-payer health care system....

http://www.wfsb.com/story/21876620/gun-control-bill-passes-house-vote?=#WNPoll128435 I received a reply email from the reporter about my asking if they will report the telling results, 80% against 20% for,and she told me they will be discussing it this morning for the 5-630 PM news show. She agreed the results were "interesting" and told me to tune in. The pole will be coming down some time this AM so maybe we can bump that 80% up a bit.
  • FReep this Poll: Would you Support Donald Trump if he won the Republican Nomination?

With the 2012 Presidential election less than 24 months away, candidates for the Republican nomination are already sizing up their prospects. One of these is businessman Donald Trump. Though he has not stated that he is running, Trump has mentioned several times, including recently at CPAC, that he is giving it much thought. Starting off as an upper-middle class child, Trump has been able to create a multi-billion dollar empire than spans much of the globe. Some say that this qualifies him as a good presidential candidate, as he could help revitalize the American economy. Others, however, believe him to...
  • Don't Let CHAMP Bill Shut Down Physician Hospitals!

Physician Hospitals of America ^ | 2007 | Physician Hospitals of America
On July 25, 2007, Congress introduced The Childrens' Health and Medicare Protection (CHAMP) Act of 2007 (H.R. 3162) which attacks physician hospitals. Section 651 of the CHAMP bill has the effect of abolishing the right of physicians to own and operate hospitals. All referrals by physicians to hospitals in which they have an ownership interest would be banned under passages in the late pages of the initial draft. Additionally, all existing physician hospitals would be prevented from any growth or expansion, and would face severe curtailment in ownership, funding, and operating abilities.

Amid the furious debate over Iraq and the speculation that George Bush may be a lame duck after next Tuesday's mid-term elections, an extraordinary political milestone is approaching: a cantankerous 65-year-old called Bernie looks set to become the first socialist senator in US history. Bernie Sanders is so far ahead in the contest for Vermont's vacant seat for the US Senate that it seems only sudden illness or accident could derail his rendezvous with destiny, after eight terms as the state's only congressman. His success flies in the face of all the conventional wisdom about American politics. He is an...

On Saturday the 20th, members of the International Socialist Orgnization (ISO) were thrown out of the new Camp Casey site by Crawford law enforcement personnel at the request of protest organizers... Here's the deal from a DU eyewitness. The ISO set up a table under the new "Camp Two" tent (which is huge) and loaded it with copies of Socialist Worker and Howard Zinn books. They then started peddling their stuff and handing out flyers to advertise the socialist-leaning anti-war protest in DC on September 24. They were eager, if perhaps a little too aggressive in sales, and I was...

Gay prize for bishop and MP A Lutheran bishop is to receive the “Salmon of the Year” prize and Socialist People’s Party Minister for Equality, Kamal Qureshi, is to get “Politician of the Year” from the Danish Homosexual and Lesbian Association. Bishop Kjeld Holm of Århus is to receive the prize for having supported the idea of gay couples marrying in a proper church ceremony, something that is not allowed by Danish law today. Last year, the Salmon prize was awarded to Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen for speaking out in favour of gay marriages in church. Qureshi’s prize is...

Newsweek's false, retracted story about American guards flushing the Koran down a toilet at Guantanamo doesn't necessarily mean the magazine's staff hates America or Bush, or wants us to lose in Iraq. To be charitable, let's just chalk that one up to sloppy journalism.

PARIS (AFP) - French President Jacques Chirac has vowed to launch a new "counter-offensive" against American cultural domination, enlisting the support of the British, German and Spanish governments in a multi-million euro bid to put the whole of European literature on-line. The president was reacting last week to news that the American search-engine provider Google is to offer access to some 15 million books and documents currently housed in five of the most prestigious libraries in the English-speaking world. The realisation that the "Anglo-Saxons" were on the verge of a major breakthrough towards the dream of a universal library seriously...

Excuse the vanity post. I'll make it brief. There are more stories than I care to count, and a commensurate number of FR threads, on peace marches, war protests, anti-bombing demonstrations, anti-military rallies, call them what you will. And what should they be called?May I suggest a little straightforward language? When you discuss the matter with friends and family, when you write letters to the editor, when you call a talk radio program, refer to them as anti-American rallies. Because the unvarnished truth is, whether these assemblies take place in Baghdad, Paris, London, or Charlotte, that's what they are.The participants, of...

Chancellor Gerhard Schröder launched a public attack yesterday on Tony Blair's pro-American policy towards Iraq, leaving the Prime Minister's attempts to rally European support for Washington in disarray. Taking direct issue with Mr Blair, who described Iraq on Tuesday as "a real and direct threat" to world security and insisted that America should "not have to face the issue alone", the chancellor said: "With all respect for Tony Blair, just like anyone else he will not speak for Europe alone on this issue or on others. "We have absolutely no reason to change our well-founded position. Under my leadership, Germany...
