By now I am sure you are all familiar with the statement that Senator Patty Murray, the Democrat Senator from Washington State, made which was praising Osama bin Laden. There is an article that was posted today which showed that now the TalibanOnline has put the article from WorldNetDaily on their website.

It is disgusting that a U.S. Senator would give "aid and comfort" to the enemy by making such a foolish statement. That the enemy has put it up on their website is a good illustration why the old rule that criticism of the President (and etc.) stops at the borders. ONLY Liberal Democrats don't seem to honor that unwritten rule of honor anymore. In fact, the Liberal Democrats don't seem to have any honor about a lot of things. But that's another subject.

SEATTLE – Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., told a group of high-school students in her state that the U.S. should adopt Osama bin Laden's nation-building tactics.

"We've got to ask, why is this man so popular around the world?" said Murray, according to the Vancouver Columbian newspaper. "Why are people so supportive of him in many countries that are riddled with poverty?"



The second-term senator, who faces re-election in 2004, was responding to questions from world history students and student government leaders at Columbia River High School in Vancouver, Wash., on Wednesday.

Murray said, according to the Vancouver paper, that bin Laden has been "out in these countries for decades, building schools, building roads, building infrastructure, building day care facilities, building health care facilities, and the people are extremely grateful. We haven't done that."

"How would they look at us today if we had been there helping them with some of that rather than just being the people who are going to bomb in Iraq and go to Afghanistan?" Murray asked.

Murray, chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in the 107th Congress, voted against an October Senate resolution – passed by a 77-23 margin – that gives President Bush authority to use military force against Saddam Hussein's regime.

Murray concluded the session with students by challenging them to consider alternatives to war, the Columbian reported. She said that while building up Third World nations is costly, war is expensive too.

"Your generation ought to be thinking about whether we should be better neighbors out in other countries so that they have a different vision of us," said Murray. "It is a debate I think we ought to have."

Regarding your lead editorial in defense of Senator Murray.

It's quite shocking that any American would support the words of a seditionist like Patty Murray. When you actually hear her spill forth her garbage, one can only conclude she is completely unfit to be a United States Senator.

While Bin Laden and his followers destroy places of work all over the world and builds roads to service terrorists training camps which murder thousands of Americans. While he and his Taliban butchers prevent women from learning, from obtaining an education, from leaving their home, from voting, or from earning a living, Patty Murray goes around spilling revisionist dogma heretofore reserved for fools.

She seems to be totally ignorant of hard working American groups like the Peace Corps and their thousands of volunteers who've risked their lives improving the living conditions of third world citizens around the world. She also seems to be completely ignorant of how much our country spends overseas in financial aid. An amount equaled by no nation on earth. An amount equaled by no nation in the history of the planet.

While many Americans, this holiday season, will spend some time mourning the death of their family members who were killed on 9/11 by Osama fanatics who praised Allah while flying aircraft into the faces of innocent women and children. Patty Murray seems to be spending her time defending a butchering enemy in front of a bunch of high school kids.

How could she be so ignorant of the generosity of Americans who give to the rest of the world with such abundance? How could the chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in the 107th Congress be so completely out of touch with what it means to be an American?

Osama Bin Laden doesn't build he destroys! He has taken his enormous inherited wealth and spent it on thought controlling madrassa's which teach a medieval form of Islamic intolerance, on weapons and on terrorist training camps which seek to control and kill. Patty Murray, and those who support the words she has spoken, should be embarrassed for their ignorance and seditionist speech.

No doubt her words will be repeated by Bin Laden's fanatical followers to help enlist another ten thousand murderers who's sole purpose will be the destruction of American culture. In fact, it's has already begun to happen as the Taliban Online highlighted her speech with the headline "Democrat Senator praises bin Laden".

How she sleeps at night astonishes me.

Patty Murray should move to a place similar to Kabul, before we ousted the Taliban, so she can better understand the world Bin Laden and his ilk seek to create for women. She should also demonstrate how much she values Osami's utopian female vision of life by giving up her right to vote, own property, get educated and get permission to leave the home, all while wearing a Burkha?

The rest of us should call for her resignation and if not obtained elect someone else to represent Washington State in the Senate. Further, the Seattle Post Intelligence editorial board (P-I for Programming Ivan), should re-examine their motivation to defend her in order to better understand why so many Washington residents see the paper as nothing more then an extreme liberal rag good for wrapping fish at Pikes Place Market and little else.

Murry won't resign, but it helps to drag her name through the mud. It might hurt her re-election changes or just give Democrats in general a bad name. That's all that Democrats wanted to do with Trent Lott.

Of course you're right, she will never resign. However, Congressman Neathercut (the person who ousted Tom Foley while he was leader of the House) will be running against Murray for the Senate seat next year.

The more this story stays alive, the better his chances of unseating her are.

Probably true, unfortunately. I know two Americans of Chinese extraction (fairly recent, no more than 1st or 2nd generation born here) who would put the lie to that. The one I can name publicly, since he's run for public office, is Art Hu -- remember the chant in the Republican state convention in Spokane, 2000: "Who? Hu! WHO? HU!". The other is a home-schooler, Christian, activist and somewhere to my right.

I remember hearing that the Republicans can't automatically write off the Asian community as leftist/socialist/communist. Those who have their own businesses tend to be quite sharp and over here the leftist/socialist/communist politicos don't provide them with the best environment in which they can (personally) prosper.

Question: Did Patty Murray support Osama Bin Laden by painting a false picture of him while giving a speech to high school kids? If not, why would the Taliban Online believe she had?

If so, why? Why would a United States Senator believe a terrorist had done more to help lift people out of poverty in the middle east than America has?

Does she not realize terrorism, madrassa and medeaval teachings (like those promoted and supported by Osama Bin Laden), are largely what is preventing the people of the middle east from developing as a civilized place to live?

Can she truly be ignorant to the beacon of hope, prosperity, and freedom America has provided to the suffering people of the world, so many of which live under tyrannical dictatorial rule?
