The real threat from McCain is that he, along with one of the faux Republicans from the NorthEast, will bolt the party and put Tommy Dashole back in charge.

...LANDRIEU (D) wins =
...McCAIN (R) turns
To: Arkie2
I don't think you'll see any more bolting, least of all from McCain.
I'm no fan of the man but his views on most issues puts him at odds with a Democratic party that is moving ever leftward on issues such as national defense.
Furthermore, as Jeffords demonstrated, a defection that only results in a slim majority can easily be undone, leaving the defector in a precarious position indeed.
Finally, Arizona is no Vermont. A Dem McCain might not get re-elected.

Here is your worst nightmare coming. The Republicans have a one vote majority. Now that Landrieu won in Louisiana, the Republicans have no room for error. Watch for a double switch with both McCain and Chaffee switching to the RAT party giving them a majority once more.
To: Enterprise
I tend to doubt this. Look what happened to Jeffords. McShame is up for re-election in 2004 (if he runs). The Rats have to defend more seats in 2004 and if they lose a seat or two, the switchers are in the wilderness for a long time.

It will take two RINO's to defect to the demonRATs to give back Dasshole control of the Senate. If only one RINO defects the Senate will be split 50/50 and Chaney will have the tie breaking vote.

McCAIN (R) -&- CHAFFEE (R) turn =
The U.S. Senate's real tie-breaker
To: LarryM
Trust me on this, I would hate to see it happen. Consider what confronts the RATS right now. They are in a deep hole and they know it. No one wants to donate to them because they can't do anyone any favors and their promises are even more worthless now than they ever were. They are fully aware right now that perhaps they made a big mistake because they didn't reward Jeffords
ENOUGH! They would not make the same mistake again if McCain and Chaffee switched. The RATS would pull out all stops to give them as much power and they could afford to part with, and as much riches via campaign donations and "junkets" as they could extort from business.
Going back to the earlier part about donations, remember that no one wants to donate to them right now. If they pulled off a double switch and regained the majority, they would brutally punish a few lobbyists and businesses who didn't come up with a huge donation recently. After they got businesses and lobbyists sufficiently terrified, they would literally extort hundreds of millions of dollars from them. I have said it before and I will say it again, the RATS make the mafia chieftans weep with envy. No criminal organization in world history has had as much success as the RATS! (Of course this is all merely my OPINION!)

Rush Limbaugh also called McCain a Democrat in an interview with Tim Russert.

A few years ago someone tried to explain to me why Reagan was the same as Clinton.
You and he need to have a talk.
You'd like each other. Really....
To: Demidog
So are a large majority of the Republicans in office including Bush. The majority of R's in office cast votes that are the opposite of what the D's vote for about 90% of the time. The same can not be said about your opinions here at FreeRepbulic as they more often than 10% agree with the D's.
So then judging by your own standards, you are a D'Rat -- even more so.

The following are the ACU ratings for 34 R Senators, for the year 2002;
Graham TX. 95%, Huchinson TX. 95%, Kyle AZ. 100%, Domenici NM. 90%, Craig ID. 96%, Crapo ID. 92%, Bennett UT. 100%, Hatch UT. 96%, Burns MT 96%, Enzi WY 92%, Thomas Wy 96%, Allard CO 100%, Campbell CO 92%, Imhofe OK 96%, Nickles OK 92%, Brownback KS 96%, Roberts KS 100%, Grassley IA 92%, Lott MS 96%, Hutchinson AK 92%, Sessions AL 96%, Shelby AL 100%, Thurmond SC 100%, Helms NC 100%, Frist TN 100%, Bunning KY 100%, McConnell KY 96%, Allen VA 96%, Warner VA 96%, Lugar IN 92%, Santorum PA 100%, Smith NH 100%, Murkowski AS 100%, Stevens AS 92%,
My above statement is -- TRUE!
To: FreeReign
Those ratings do not have anything to do with how many times they voted against democrats. Your statement is false and you have no support for your assertion.

Those ratings do not have anything to do with how many times they voted against democrats. Your statement is false and you have no support for your assertion. Thats because I only gave you half the equation. Here's the other half;
Percentages signify the percentages that the senators voted in agreement with the ACU.
The following are the ACU ratings for 38 D Senators, for the year 2002; Cantwell 12%, Murray 4%, Wyden 8%, Boxer 8%, Feinstein 12%, Bingaman 29%, Reid 20%, Bacus 28%, Daschle 8%, Dayton 4%, Wellstone 0%, Feingold 20%, Kohl 16%, Harkin 8%, Durbin 0%, Lincoln 28%, Landrieu 28%, Graham 16%, Nelson 16%, Hollings 29%, Levin 8%, Stabenow 8%, Rockefeller 12%, Clinton 12%, Schumer 16%, Milkulskie 8%, Sarbanes 12%, Biden 12%, Carper 24%, Corzine 0%, Toricelli 28%, Dodd 16%, Lieberman 28%, Kennedy 4%, Kerry 4%, Reed 4%, Jeffords 29%, Leahy 8%.
Contrast this to;
The following are the ACU ratings for 34 R Senators, for the year 2002; Graham TX. 95%, Huchinson TX. 95%, Kyle AZ. 100%, Domenici NM. 90%, Craig ID. 96%, Crapo ID. 92%, Bennett UT. 100%, Hatch UT. 96%, Burns MT 96%, Enzi WY 92%, Thomas Wy 96%, Allard CO 100%, Campbell CO 92%, Imhofe OK 96%, Nickles OK 92%, Brownback KS 96%, Roberts KS 100%, Grassley IA 92%, Lott MS 96%, Hutchinson AK 92%, Sessions AL 96%, Shelby AL 100%, Thurmond SC 100%, Helms NC 100%, Frist TN 100%, Bunning KY 100%, McConnell KY 96%, Allen VA 96%, Warner VA 96%, Lugar IN 92%, Santorum PA 100%, Smith NH 100%, Murkowski AS 100%, Stevens AS 92%,
34 R senators vote in agreement with the ACU about 95% of the time. 38 D senators vote with the ACU about 15% of the time. The following logically is true from the above stated data;
The majority of R's in office cast votes that are the opposite of what the D's vote for about 90% of the time.
Your judgement says otherwise.
