Here is your worst nightmare coming. The Republicans have a one vote majority. Now that Landrieu won in Louisiana, the Republicans have no room for error. Watch for a double switch with both McCain and Chaffee switching to the RAT party giving them a majority once more.

I tend to doubt this. Look what happened to Jeffords. McShame is up for re-election in 2004 (if he runs). The Rats have to defend more seats in 2004 and if they lose a seat or two, the switchers are in the wilderness for a long time.

There are some Dems - notably Miller and Breaux - who have some integrity. If the Dem. party leaders attempt to get control this way again, I could see them switching to Ind.
That way, Senate control would be in the party that the electorate chose.
Another point is that a switch this way again could really get GOPers energized. The Dems could be out by even more seats in 2004.
