Rush is Bummin' Me out Today
Rush Limbaugh ^

Posted on 11/26/2002 10:20:25 AM PST by Recovering_Democrat

Anyone else hearing Rush today? He's dissecting the NYT/See BS poll today that details how America totally disagrees w/the conservative message--everywhere except in National Security.

Rush seems to agree. What a bummer.

Rush seems to agree. What a bummer.

He keeps saying "if you belive the poll", which, at the beginning, he said is usually suspect.

You are placing faith in the liberal NYT/SeeBS poll? Shame on you.

In the long run, this poll means bupkiss.

Poll numbers won't start to matter even a little bit until after Labor Day 2004.

One thing I love about Bush is that he never gets distratced when the pundits start talking about meaningless media-driven polling news stories. He just seems to stay on focus and pursue his visions.

In 2004 Bush and the Republicans will be unbeatable unless: 1) Iraq turns out badly for us; and 2) the economy sucks.

If those two issues go Bush's way, the American people will reward him and the Repubs with decisive election victories and very high approaval numbers.

This surprises you? This country is fundamentally socialist at heart. The Sheeple simply realized that they can't get their socialist goodies and handouts if they're dead. That's why Homeland Security is so popular.

Actually all he's trying to say is to keep the next two years simple and then use 2004 as an election for real reform-- the tax code, SS, etc.

Take care of Iraq, have a sizzling economy, put all our judges on the bench, keep killing terrorists, pass a prescription drug bill, pass a ban on PBA, and do a few other things around the edges.

You don't want to spook the voters. We have an opportunity to have the same extended rule in Congress as the Democrats had from 1930-1990.

While we may not like what the poll says, it is a pretty accurate reflection of how the public PERCEIVES the GOP on various issues.

But that is not the end of the world. It just means we have to proactively educate the public on the realities of our positions and proposals, instead of letting the media and Dems continue to define us. ANWR is the perfect example, how many people actually know the scale of the park compared to the drilling areas, how many know about the unique and sensitive drilling strategies?

Much of the same public had dim views of Bush 2 years ago, but came around as they were educated about who Bush really is, as compared to how he was portrayed. Why should it be any different when it comes to particular issues?

No, he isn't. He hasn't said it as often as he should during the show, but he's said "Let's make the ASSUMPTION that the poll is correct."

IOW, it's a kind of hypothetical...a mind game...he's mentioned problems with the poll...some inconsistencies, but hasn't been more specific.

He just said again, the poll doesn't make any sense.

I agree. We need to move the center slowly to the right. Give us control for a couple of years. Pass SOME of the agenda (the less scary parts for the independents). Let them see that the sky doesn't fall in. Then run in 2004 on a real reform agenda. If we win and the sky doesn't fall, watch the center move right fast.

Then we can get series.

Why the surprise? Look: who amoung us really expected to win back the Senate? Very few, I'd wager. The mid-term elections took everyone by surprise. We conservatives know how hard it is to get our message across and in our post election euphoria had convinced ourselves that we had done just that. But common sense kept haunting us. Could it be true that suddenly the average Democrat voter had seen the light? We knew, in the back of our minds, that something else was afoot and responsible for our victory. And I think many of us suspected that it had to do with the war and national security.

And now the latest poll tells us that Democrats still think their party is best at solving most problems. They just trust Republicans more to handle national security (bad news for the Democrat candidates) and that is the issue they deem most important, right now. So we are in power at the moment. But what happens in two years?

What we have to do is show America that the Republican Party is the party that will protect their futures, their enviornment, their bank accounts and their rear ends. And we've got only two years to do it.

Rush doesn't believe the poll and you wouldn't either if you would read the questions. You can get any answer you want if you slant the questions properly.

Rush is using it as a teaching tool. Listen and learn.
