Suzie Terrell needs your help in Louisiana runoff!
Posted on 11/06/2002 5:23:32 PM PST by strick68
Suzie Terrell will face the incumbent Democrat Mary Landrieu (sp?) in a runoff for the U.S. Senate seat in Louisiana on Dec. 7th. According to Hugh Hewitt http://www.hughhewitt.com the new campaign finance laws DO NOT APPLY TO THIS RACE!!! This race will immediately become a Democrat soft money party in an effort to deny the Republicans the opportunity of padding their new lead in the Senate. We must help Suzie in whatever way we can. Her website http://www.suzieterrell.com does not accept online donations (yet) but you can call (225)218-8683 or donate by mail to: Suzanne Haik Terrell for U.S. Senate PO Box 44267 Baton Rouge, LA 70804 If she wins and the John Thune/Tim Johnson race in South Dakota breaks our way, we will have a lead of 53-47-1 over the 'RATS and Independent Jumpin' Jim Jeffords!! Let's help this good woman by donating!! And if you can, try to get down to Louisiana to walk precincts for her. Go to http://www.stomp4victory.org for information. And a special thanks to Hugh Hewitt for this information.

The GOP must fight for this seat.
Don't rest on your laurels!
Go win Louisiana!!!
And may the Lord help you do it, because Landrieu is no good.

Great. Thank you :) One key to guaranting a huge Republican turnout is presenting a huge united Republican effort. We must not assume that the senate is safe. Not yet. Not as long as John McCain and Lincoln Chaffee are still in office.

Ok, I know I should already have the answer to this question, but here goes. Early on, Perkins accused Terrell of being pro-choice. I've done some online research, and although Terrell says she's pro-life, I'm still not clear. Can you (or anyone) explain the Planned Parenthood thing from early on in the campaign? Is she pro-life or not?

Also urging Freepers in the FL Panhandle to volunteer to help her win! (If you know some more please ping them here!)

Since you are in the Panhandle....please get this info to others who might help Terrell.
Thanks, Julie

I'm sorry, I got sidetracked with two other threads. :)
Well, I don't really know what Perkins was talking about. I never heard him make that statement. However, I can tell you that two national Pro-Life groups, Ave Maria and Susan B Anthony endorsed Suzie.
In the following information she clearly states her pro-life position.
Respecting the Sanctity of Life
We will never create a culture in this country that honors life until we have a pro-life woman making the case every day from the Senate floor. Today, there are no pro-life women in the Senate. That must change. Louisiana can change it.
I pledge to vote to ban partial birth abortion.
I pledge to join John Breaux in protecting the statute banning abortions in military hospitals.
I pledge to support a bill requiring parental consent for those under the age of 18 seeking an abortion.
I pledge to help President Bush nominate and confirm pro-life federal judges and Supreme Court Justices.
I pledge to vote 100% for life.

Thank you Florida FReeper. We really appreciate your support and your contribution. This one is going to get a little ugly I'm afraid. Landrieu plays typical Hillary style politics. She accuses her opponents of doing exactly what she is doing then crys politics of personal destruction when someone points out what she just did.

The fact that Foster threw his support to John Cooksey but is now squemish on supporting Terrell simply puzzles me. Why is he worried about offending Landrieu? He's term limited anyway and is leaving in 2003.
To: nospinzone
Foster has upset all of his supporters. I called his office twice today to express my "opinion" LOL. Yes, Cooksey the governor's candidate gave his support to Terrell early Wednesday morning. The other pubbie, Tony Perkins, has yet to do the same. I called his office today also, let them know what I thought about that, too.
I was puzzled about Foster until I heard him on the radio this afternoon. He does a 1 hr radio, call in show every Thursday.
He says he knows and likes both women.... (sigh)
Says he got tired of the mud slinging during the campaign. (Huh ?)
Said he didn't like the National Republican Senate Committee dumping all their money into Terrell's campaign (now we're getting somewhere)
Said they, senate committee, didn't confer with anyone. They just chose Terrell. (ah ha... LOL)
Said they should have distributed the money among all the candidates. (hehehehe So that's it)
Said, he had some differences with the President. (snicker, I expect it is the other way around today)
Said, he hadn't actually said he wouldn't decide to support Terrell. That he might. (like in this campaign ?)
Normally the calls to that show are very favorable and supportive of the governor.... NOT TODAY. They were blistering. He took a public spanking today, there is no other way to describe it. I'd say perhaps 10% of the calls agred with him and that was it. It is usually the other way around. He knew he had messed up by the time that hour was over.
So, IMHO, the RNC senate committee didn't offer his candidate any money and because he had already chosen his candidate they didn't discuss what they were going to do with him. LOL So, the Guv got a little ole pout going.

You're right on about Mr. Perkins. This man has a very bright political future. He was the hands down winner in the debates. He's the only one I thought who effectively stood up to Miss Mary. We haven't heard the last from Tony Perkins.
To: Darlin'
And have you noticed how much she tries to use that soft-spoken-mild-mannered technique perfected by the none other Tom Daschle. Just a coincidence?
To: Prolifeconservative
Yes, last year she was just as overbearing and screechingly imperialistic as Hillary whenever she was on TV. That is how her staff behaves when you call about an upcoming vote, etc. This year in all her campaign ads and in interviews she was a mini Daschle. It was disgusting.

Thanks for the ping, Julie. I just signed up for Suzie Terrell's email and will send a check.
With the exception of a couple of disappointments (Thune & Largent), the election was a resounding success for Republicans. I've been in relief mode since the wee hours Wednesday.
To: strick68
i am going to donate today. only $20, but everybit will help. we need every senate seat.
To: nospinzone
I heard a tv report that all the Republicans who ran tallied more votes than Landrieu. Can anyone confirm?
