Election 2002: FBI looks into misleading voter calls
Thursday, October 31, 2002 Associated Press
ORLANDO - An FBI agent has interviewed Florida Democratic chairman Bob Poe about a phone call he received urging him to cast his absentee ballot days after the Nov. 5 election. Poe said Wednesday that an agent from the FBI's Orlando office interviewed him by phone for about 15 minutes on Tuesday about the call he received late last week from a man purporting to be with Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill McBride's campaign. Unaware of Poe's position, the man asked the state Democratic chairman to cast his absentee ballot Nov. 10 - five days after Election Day, Poe said. FBI spokesman Sara Oates in Tampa said Wednesday she couldn't confirm that an investigation into the call has been initiated. The FBI generally does not discuss ongoing investigations. Poe said Wednesday that he was under the impression that there was an investigation. "The Justice Department, through the FBI, is looking into it," Poe said. "My understanding is that they're cooperating with ... other law enforcement agencies to get to the bottom of this." U.S. Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, the ranking Democratic member of the Judiciary Committee, wrote U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft on Tuesday asking for an investigation. Poe had written Ashcroft over the weekend also asking him to investigate. Both the Republican Party of Florida and the campaign of Republican Gov. Jeb Bush have denied involvement and support an investigation.

I wonder what law that is breaking.

Both the Republican Party of Florida and the campaign of Republican Gov. Jeb Bush have denied involvement and support an investigation. The first thing that strikes me is - what's this paragraph doing in there...

Help me understand.
Both the Republican Party of Florida and the campaign of Republican Gov. Jeb Bush have denied involvement
So, an important Democratic official (whose title was unknown, but whose party affiliation was clearly known) was asked to vote improperly, long after the deadline, for a Democratic candidate.
And the media takes the step of saying Jeb Bush denies that he us behind this election fraud??

"Do you have Prince Albert in a can?"....he calls the FBI, lol!
Us mean old Florida Republicans have been accused of just about everything, but even the honest Dems. know who's guilty - the cheating, lying, dirty, swamp rats in charge of the DNC.
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
This doesn't make any sense to me. Poe, the DNC chairman, calls the feds when a supposed Democrat on McBrides campaign called him and urged him to cast votes after Nov. 5? Why would he do that and harm his own party?
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
This smells on top of the Haitian boatload people from Bermuda!
The Clinton RATs will do and say anything to get attention and blame Republicans! They are without conscience!
To: ClearCase_guy
Exactly. This article is confusing. At first, it makes it sound like the Democrats are at fault. Then, the last line hook you into thinking the Pubbies are at fault. Honestly, I read the article and immediately smelled a RAT.

It's quite a simple plan. By casting many dem votes late, that would give the dems something to sue for in court once McBride loses the election, and give the dim's an in to try and steal another election. As a side bonus, it gives them a chance to drag Jeb Bush through the mud and make it look like he's vote tampering. It's a longshot tactic, but obviously nothing is below these dim's who would much rather tear the country apart than lose power.

Wanna bet Poe is making the whole thing up?
Like we all know, Democrats accuse republicans of doing what they've done themselves. If I were investigators, I'd ask Poe if he recorded the call, if he asked who the caller was working for, if he wrote down details of the call, what time of day the call was received, duration. This is something easily verified.
I bet the farm investigators will figure out Poe is going for adversely affecting voters' opinion of republicans..a concerted effort to discredit Governor Bush...how else to explain how quickly Poe got Conyers in on the scam.
