"No way the driver survived if he was in the vehicle. Any explosion large enough to lift a FedEx truck would not be survivable." The cab looks intact. This truck had two trailers.

Good thing it wasn't on I-44 that goes right through the heart of the city.
Or I-55, or highway 40 or I-70, or I-170...
Actually north county on either sie of I-270 is kind of dense. I would imagne it was leaving or going toward the airport.
Testing of methods? Perhaps timers or remote activation?

Rush just mentioned this.

but the entire trailer section had disintegrated. Unless they were carrying gas cannisters of some sort, this would pretty much have to be a bomb.

I just saw a picture of the truck, dear G-d in heaven. If they even find a piece of the guy driving the truck it will be a miracle.

Geeze Mo, I'm at work and can't see a thing. Did both trailers blow up? If so you'd think that would require two bombs.

From KMOC Channel 4 website:
Breaking News - Highway 270 is closed in both directions near Bellefontaine Road in north St. Louis County due to a crash and fire involving a FedEx truck. SkyZoom 4 is over the scene. Avoid the area if possible.

FNC has video of a Holy cow?< /sorry couldn't resist>.
How bad is it? Are we talking total destruction like a bomb went off in it?
To: Dave S
How long before we hear from Jean Carnahan, trying to exploit this for political purposes?

First thought I had was the airport too!
I drive I-44 to hook in with I-70 when I go back to my Mom's house in Ohio. Sometimes I have taken I-270 around as well when we have spent the night in St. Louis! This gives me the creeps!

Unless they were carrying gas cannisters of some sort, this would pretty much have to be a bomb. What's the security at FEDEX? Do packages get x-rayed? This doesn't make any sense. The only other "benign" thing that causes explosions like that is any kind of dust or powder under certain conditions (grain elevator explosions from grain dust).
