Unless they were carrying gas cannisters of some sort, this would pretty much have to be a bomb.

What's the security at FEDEX? Do packages get x-rayed? This doesn't make any sense. The only other "benign" thing that causes explosions like that is any kind of dust or powder under certain conditions (grain elevator explosions from grain dust).

You can't carry gas cylinders in an enclosed truck.

FDX intake security is pretty lax. I have a friend who is an acft mechanic at their FLL ramp operation. The company had an incident earlier this year where a client shipped an unmarked package carrying radioactive material from Paris to New Orleans. The only reason they found out about it was because the recipient mentioned it to the courier upon delivery.
