REPORT: FREEP the Peaceniks, Freaks, Anarchists and other Useful Idiots in Augusta ME 10/26

It was cold and raining when I caught up with Metestky coming out of Burger King. A perfect day to rain on the peaceniks. They were gathering over at the school across the street. Burger King was full of them. I guess that they hadn't yet heard it was politcally incorrect to eat there.

We scouted out a good spot to FREEP the Parade and waited and waited, but they had changed the parade route.

No fear, we headed down to the state house with the heated steps to cut them off at the pass.

We set up shop across the street and out with the signs.

The dazed wet looks turned to confusion. Who's Neville Chamberlain? So much for modern education.

They understood "America Haters" and "They want to kill us"

I guess its best to keep the signs simple. A cameraman caught us, waiting to see if we made the news.

Overall they just stayed away from us with a few exceptions and just glared. Madame DuFarge was asked by one psycho if she was drafted and knew what war was. The late middle aged gentleman obviously forgot his meds this morning, having left so early. He also didn't understand we were attacked on 9/11.

The anarchists started banging their drums and plastic buckets and they all assembled and headed back to the staging area with a police escort. We heard from the police they were to be ready and available for problems. I guess one of them got arrested.

Metestky wandered over to the guy with a mask on his head, we couldn't tell if it was Nixon or W, so he went over to see. After a few minutes we joined him. Up closed we still couldn't tell. It was now 2:30PM we were drenched, the signs were wet. We decided to go home and meet for dinner in Bangor.

All and all a good freak. Thanx Metesky and Madame Dufarge.

Hey! I wondered if you all made it to this Freep. Weather was horrible. Were there really 1,000 to 3,000 there? That's what Boston.com is reporting. I couldn't believe it.

Probably 1,000
They did a full alert, trying to get all the factions out. It was sad, most of them had the glazed I haven't a clue look in their eyes.

It's called "Freeping in the Rain" (sung to the tune "Singing in the Rain"). Thanks for being out there to oppose the Maine peaceniks. I'm proud of you all!

Please put me on your ping list for the next one.

Ladyinred, thanks for the ping!

Wow, you stayed up and posted the report. The good Madame and I hit the rack almost as soon as we got home from dinner.

I guess that's why I'm up at 4:00 checking the threads.

It was wonderful. Despite the rain our three person mob outnumbered their thousands in the brain department.

Some of them were really pitiful and you could see them asking each other who Neville Chamberlain was.

One brainiac, who looked and acted like an educrat, stopped and said, "Oh Joshua Chamberlain, a great man. Neville Chamberlain, we like him too, he was for peace."

"Really, how'd it work out for him?"

The weasel scurried away, shoulders hunched against the weather, mind tightly closed.

Heh...most of the posts are talking about how your "three person mob" didn't really get into any real discussions regarding the issue yet you're still willing to claim superior brain power on your side.

I was constantly engaged, walking around the fringes, asking questions, chatting up masked anarchists, Bush-masked clowns, female Quaker ministers, Capitol Police officers and anybody else whose ear I could bend.

My favorite opening line and the one that evoked smiles and a willingness to chat was, "Didn't I sell you a bag of weed on the Boston Common in 1966?"

That broke the ice for a nice chat on political differences that would leave both sides smiling. I wasn't there to make enemies or have physical confrontations with anyone.

Just joined today, eh? You aren't the young fellow with the Bush-mask who I told, "FreeRepublic.com, be there or be square?"

Stick around the other threads and learn something besides your Kool-Aid drinking leftist crapolla.

If it is you,I find it amusing that you put war-mongering Tom Paine among your list of heros. LOL!

Good to hear from you...

You on list too, ex-soldier, free thinker, interstate-carpenter, we got your number.

If you'd only hold still long enough, a contigent of Freepers will show up at your house and drink all your beer, eat your food, burp and fart, speak incoherently and mishandle your tools.

So there.

Look ozone1, they loved your sign:

At the entrance to the capitol grounds, where the rally was to be held, stood 3 counter-protesters. One held a sign accusing us of being “America Haters”. They didn’t seem to be after any trouble besides spreading their idiocy.

Useful Idiots

I couldn't help commenting.
