Ok fellow freepers. The aristocracy had fun deciding which 'hick town' was the armpit of America. Naturally it had to be rural and conservative. A tad redneck.
They were way off the mark. I would have picked New York prior to 9-11. I mean, good grief. Hellery's husband pardoned bomb terrorists to get her elected, the scandal is exposed to every New Yorker and they elected her anyway? She was silent on the issue for at least a week. But well, perhaps NY had been reborn in blood. So, I'm tempted to give them a pass.
Arkansas? Could that be the armpit of America? The home of NationsBank, Tyson Chicken, Walmart, Web Hubbell, and the Big Creep himself?
Then there is the delightful state of New Jersy, which is batting a thousand at elected scandal-swamped senators. Not only the Torch, but also Corzine.
Some might choose South Dakota. Not only do they keep re-electing Timber Tom [also called Rushmore Daschle], but they also go three days without brushing their teeth. So many choices....
Paul Artreides hates the Mass system as much as you and I. You are wrong on calling him on this point. No one of any intelligence would support Mass government. I will give you a hint as to why Libs you may have known(And I still know!) might have favored this Mass system. I am assuming you think SOME libs you have known were intelligent. Mass is basically KEynesian economics run on crack.
I do not respect Keynes the way Liberals do but I will submit that Keynesian economics is good sometimes in limited quantity. The whole thing in Mass is that this philosophy is almost thier religion.
MONEY FOR JOBS, MONEY FOR JOBS, MONEY FOR JOBS! This is thier mantra and they do not care where the money comes from. Look at the big dig. I have long maintained(Five YEars on this point anyway.) that Boston is no longer a self-supporting economic entity and it needs state and federal funds to survive.
Look at the Big Dig. Boston had IMAGINARY jobs that paid 200000$ a year of of taxpayer money... FEDERAL money. A Keynsian(SP?) economist would say that the money was being "Re-Circulated," into the economy. Maybe so, but it is time to look past dollars(They are wrong economically ANYWAY!) and look at PRINCIPLE! Why SHOULD people from Iowa pay taxes to make IMAGINARY jobs for people in Mass? IT IS WRONG!!!
MAss is run by the Acedamia with the labor vote following them even though they DISAGREE with the Leftist policy. Why... MONEY.
The problem is not going away soon, Mass is a plague state IMHO. Look at NH and Florida. MAss has the Human Plague.
Hey man, those were the good ol days.I had a good ol time. The later part sucked though.
What? Camdem has the fabulous NJ State Aquarium on the Delaware, with a waterfront view of Filthydelphia.
Chester doesn't even have a downtown shopping district anymore.
All the business moved out years ago.
Some of these people will take every opportunity to slam Cal..
What's ironic is that Cal is full of out of staters, from all over the country....Hehehe
I know, we cleaned up our air here in Los Angeles and made it an even better place to live. Damn us to hell.
Prisoners per 100,000: Ranks 8th
Percent of population over 25 completing high school: ranks 47th
Public school expenditures per student: ranks 48th
Personal income per capita: Ranks 41st

California does have a higher crime rate, but better weather plus an ocean.
If you want to talk old girlfriends, start another thread :-~
I might want to relocate someday. Where would be a good place? Lets hear from some of these folks that say California sucks. And I agree, Cal does suck in some respects, but lets hear for those that live in these great places! I am very serious here.......
I've always told people that Nebraska isn't so bad to drive through if you get off the interstate. I grew up right on highway 6 and 34, mostly along the Republican River where there were some trees, and think driving through those little towns was at least a step up from driving over a treeless plain for miles on end.
I used to boast that Nebraskans live longer than people from any other state until one of my friends said, "They don't really live longer, it just seems longer."
