Hannity Blasts FreeRepublic (maybe he is right)
Radio | Sean Hannity

Posted on 08/02/2002 2:40:49 PM PDT by jbstrick

Hannity just stated on his radio show that he has just about had enough of the conservative cannibals on this board. To many threads end up being ledd about news and information and more about attacking fellow conservatives.

He said if he wants to get attacked he will go to a Liberal board.

I have a tendency to agree...

I can remember way back when some thought you were somewhat controversial, confrontational and overly blunt. You are, sometimes, now almost Grandfatherly.

How [can] Hannity bash FR without attacking conservatives himself?

Exactamundo!

Here's a Sean "bashing" thread.

Actually enviromentalist animal loving chicks unlike feminazis tend to be quite good looking( I like animals too despite being a right wing nut otherwise).

There's an ebb and flow, but it's not about seasons or temperatures . . . it just depends on what's happening in the world . . . when we have a common foe, like during SoreLoserman hell, we're an awesome fun-loving effective force . . . when the news-cycle is running slow, with nothing but manufactured "news" like kidnappings and suv crashes, we get weak and pathetic, trolling for something to get passionate about . . . sometimes, out of the sheer boredom of it all, we attack each other . . . but don't count us out when the next real political crisis arises . . .

Wow, I knew a thread would be started related to this. If you want someone to blame concerning who started this all, you can blame me. I was the caller from Delaware who said hi to my friends on FR. That's when he went into his opinion on FR. I tried to reassure him that not everyone on here was like that, but he said that if he wanted to be bashed, he could go to the (liberal) leftist sites.

To a large extent, I agree with him. There is a difference between constructive criticism, and namecalling and bashing. With all the discussion here about the namecalling and bashing of conservatives here, particularly recently with Ann Coulter's Slander, you'd think people on here wouldn't stoop down to the level of the leftists to do such things. But unfortunately, some people succumb to the human weaknesses.

Some people on here try to claim the title of the "biggest conservative" or "biggest libertarian," but to do so, all they do is attack and bash people who seem to them to be "below" them or "imperfect." This behavior needs to stop NOW. People who need to put people down to build themselves up don't need to ruin this forum. We put up with them enough in our daily lives.

I know I'm probably going to get flamed for this, so fire away! ;-)

FDR did campaign as a real conservative, and did the most shocking 180 degree turn from a party platform ever recorded. It is the subject of a famous speech called "The Facts of the Case", by Presidential candidate Alfred E. Smith (Janury 25, 1936). If you want a .pdf version of the speech, Freepmail me.

Don't know we could only go by the voting that happened. I don't remember the full numbers but I remember it got 2/3+ in the House and the Senate was very close (like 60-40 somewhere in that range). Dangerously close to super majority the first time around (actually had it in the House), would you have really wanted to bet November of their inability to swing half a dozen votes in the Senate? Having a veto overturned is really bad for a president, especially one that didn't win the popular vote (talk all the vote fraud you want, until they change the offical number Tipper's husband won the official but thankfully unimportant popular vote).

I think a lot of people, especially here on FR, don't really respect the situation. With the population and Congress so evenly split down the middle you just can't go off in either direction full tilt. A lot of decisions in politics aren't about this vote but the next one. It's a real crappy time to be president (not that there are many good times, but now REALLY sucks). If we want a truly conservative president we have a lot of work to do, you don't get one without a truly conservative populace. As a pundit once said: the great part about democracy is that it garauntees people get the government they deserve. Well right now the people of America are clearly not sure what they want or how they want to get it; so we get a government that's split down the middle and spends most of its time argueing with itself.

"Conservatives were better off with Clinton in the WH."

You a conservative, MurryMom? Or you're just telling us conservatives who we should like, eh? Yeah, we've seen quite a few "newcomers" to this site, telling us conservatives what we should be thinking! LOL!

Oh come on Sean. Wazamater? Your celebrity status not getting enough respect?

Conservatives are pissed off in general. How could we not be given our so called leaders are a bunch of PC whimps ready to turn this country into a police state rather than clamp down on immigration?

I could go on and list a dozen other failures of the so called 'conservative' elete but I don't need to because all of us here know them by heart.

We're pissed Sean. At everything. The world is upside down, backwards, and inside out. We don't even like ourselves these days. Sorry somebody was rude to you.

Y'all try and play nice. Don't rub pretty boy's fur the wrong way any more.

No, Bush has the backbone of a jellyfish. The Congress served up a freebie to him in the form of the Farm Bill he signed. Conservatives were better off with Clinton in the WH. Clinton had the brains and the stones to use his veto power whenever Newtie, Bobdole, and other Repukes in Congress served up pieces of trash like the Farm Bill signed into law by the favorite of most FR posters.

Oh, nevermind. It's only MurrayMom.

So, you cheap troll, where have you been? How do you like that ol' "Brains and Stones" says he'd volunteer for the Israeli Army if the Iraqis ever came over the Jordan River. Eh? The Israeli Army?

So where was he when the American Army needed him?

(....sound of crickets....)

Brains and Stones my ass. Take a hike, schmuck, over to DU, where they give a sh#t what you think.

Oh, that's right, nobody cares what you think. Even at DU. I sort of forgot.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

I disagree people on the right need to start fighting dirty both against CINOs and open liberals. The left fights dirty and there is no chance of us winning unless we do so too. For instance we need to form a REAL right wing conspiracy and start getting complete control of the press by any means neccasary. We need to start having dogs and dead people vote for REAL conservatives. If the people want liberals screw the will of the people socialism is bad period.

Since I have returned — at least sporadically — to Free Republic I have noticed that there are more than a few posters here who call themselves conservatives who really aren't.

They are the paleo/populist/radical-libertatian, antiwar, antistate, John-Bircher zealots who have more in common with anti-globalization anarchists and eco-terrorists than with authentic conservatives.

The drums to which they march are pounded by the likes of Pat Buchanan, Lyndon La Rouche and Alan Keyes.

These are the people who are making a pig's breakfast out of Free Republic with their hysterical anti-GOP rantings.

There is a big difference between bashing personally public figures and bashing fellow Freepers. The former are fair game, and latter should only be indulged in under the most unusual of circumstances IMO. You DO understand the difference don't you?

My bashes are almost invariably "realistic." Deal with it. :)

Hey, I've generally enjoyed them from you. Even where you disagee, you give food for thought.

And your Woodpecker Policy is dead-on.
