The Florida Chapter met at Duffy's, a sports bar/restaurant in Boca Raton on July 21, 2002 from 1:00 to 5:00.

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Jody Warmack, aka "GoddessZena", who led the successful campaign to stop the new Sheriff of Palm Beach County from removing the American Flag off the uniforms.

After a brief discussion explaining the FreeRepublic Network, MinuteGal explained the details of the upcoming FRiva in Las Vegas.

Next up on the agenda was Jack Merkl, who is running for Robert Wexler's seat in US House District 19. Jack gave an overview of his background and why he is running and then also entertained questions.

Jody Warmack followed with her background and why she is running in the Republican primary against an incumbent Republican County Commissioner (who also happens to be the Chair of the Republican Executive Committee of Palm Beach County!). Jody also entertained questions from her fellow Freepers.

My Favorite Headached followed the two candidates with an update on the Naples/Hilton Resort/Arab rapes/ (there are two now)/FBI investigations. MFH has been keeping us informed via his posts on these situations.

The last item on the agenda was an open ended, free wheeling brainstorming session re: What should the Florida Chapter do about Janet Reno? It was agreed that we will remain on the sidelines until she wins the Demonrat Primary, which is September 10. There were many ideas put forth as to the messages and methods that should be employed in the eight weeks between the primary and the general election.

The meeting was adjourned and the apres Freep socializing commenced!

As Chapter Leader, I would like to thank all those Florida Freepers who attended. Some Freepers drove quite a long distance. MinuteGal & My Favorite Headache drove over from the west coast of Florida and LukeFreeman & Tigerbill came down from Titusville.

We had a great time at the meeting! It was fantastic to finally meet people who had been causing me to break out in laughter at work for no apparent reason.

My wife enjoyed finally meeting everyone, too. Seeing the politicians there and the patriotic display really helped me out. It finally eliminated her suspiscions that I had been secretly chatting with the Swedish Women's Olympic Bikini Team [although most of you Freeper ladies would pass for it anyways! ; ) ]

See if you can get in and go to upper right to pull down box and look for the Chapter Pictures section. Just find your file on your drive and upload it. I haven't done it a long time but it worked nicely when I did try it!

Leni, I saw you go by while I was tanking up, and when I tried to catch-up to you on the turnpike, God told me to slow down! He peeled the weatherstripping off my windshield again! I guess He doesn't want me to go over 130. I'll buy some new glue, and get it blessed by a Rabbit, I mean a Rabbi! Hey, I'm a non-denominational-speeder!

As one who was born in Margaret Hague Hospital in Joisey City, I am familiar with both the sounds and the smells of Hoboken plus I had many relatives who lived in Brooklyn. I remember taking the ferry across as a kid to visit all those relatives!
