The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Jody Warmack, aka "GoddessZena", who led the successful campaign to stop the new Sheriff of Palm Beach County from removing the American Flag off the uniforms.
After a brief discussion explaining the FreeRepublic Network, MinuteGal explained the details of the upcoming FRiva in Las Vegas.
Next up on the agenda was Jack Merkl, who is running for Robert Wexler's seat in US House District 19. Jack gave an overview of his background and why he is running and then also entertained questions.
Jody Warmack followed with her background and why she is running in the Republican primary against an incumbent Republican County Commissioner (who also happens to be the Chair of the Republican Executive Committee of Palm Beach County!). Jody also entertained questions from her fellow Freepers.
My Favorite Headached followed the two candidates with an update on the Naples/Hilton Resort/Arab rapes/ (there are two now)/FBI investigations. MFH has been keeping us informed via his posts on these situations.
The last item on the agenda was an open ended, free wheeling brainstorming session re: What should the Florida Chapter do about Janet Reno? It was agreed that we will remain on the sidelines until she wins the Demonrat Primary, which is September 10. There were many ideas put forth as to the messages and methods that should be employed in the eight weeks between the primary and the general election.
The meeting was adjourned and the apres Freep socializing commenced!
Gonzo & LukeFreeman took many photos and will probably post them to this thread.
As Chapter Leader, I would like to thank all those Florida Freepers who attended. Some Freepers drove quite a long distance. MinuteGal & My Favorite Headache drove over from the west coast of Florida and LukeFreeman & Tigerbill came down from Titusville.
We all came away with new information, new insights and new friendships. Highlights for me included My Favorite Headaches' report on the Marco Island incidents, listening to the conservative congressional candidate running against the entrenched, loathsome Klinton shill, Wexler, meeting a bright 17-year-old Florida freeper, the warm fellowship and the "Janet Reno for Governor" placard sign placed conveniently for use as a floor mat in the middle of our meeting room!
Luke Freeman gave Reno signs (obtained when he scoped out a Reno rally) to some of us to take home. Mine is now hung in my garage rogues gallery (visible to the street when open) plastered with all the humorous FR Reno pix I could find, including the famous Elian in the Crosshairs photo.
My long drive home was also highlighted by the mother of all Florida rainstorms, adding two hours to my trip, but it didn't dampen my spirits after this great meeting!
Can't wait for the pix.

I almost yelled last night when Jim Traficant said he would be in Orlando in August to make sure that Reno doesn't get elected.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After the primary he can do his worst and I will be cheering him on. But he can't screw up the "Stormtroopers for Reno" campain!
