Yesterday in the 105 degree heat (which seemed cool in comparison to Friday's 109 degrees which was a scorcher) fifty FReepers and family got together at Woodward Park in Fresno, California for a "tailgate" picnic dinner and fun!
FReepers who attended were (in alphabetical order):
- Amerigomag
- BadJoe
- BobJ
- Brock
- COB1
- Chadsworth
- Clovis Skeptic (and his wife and daughter)
- Cool Guy
- CounterCounterCulture
- Diotima
- Diver Dave
- DoughtyOne (and his wife)
- FriendAnn
- Gracie1 (and her husband and son)
- Java Man
- Jim Robinson (and Sheila and Chris)
- JKPhoto
- John Robinson
- JustAmy (and her husband and son)
- Lager (and his daugher and granddaughter)
- Ladyinred
- Maccabee-AJB
- Mama_Bear
- Mtngrl@vrwc (and daughter)
- Notpoliticallycorewrecked (and her husband and two sons)
- Saundra Duffy
- Senorita (and her husband)
- SiFiPattie (and her dad and a family friend, Chris)
- Tami
I hope that I haven't left anybody out, but if I did, please forgive me AND SET ME STRAIGHT! LOL!
To sum it all up, we had a great time! A fabulous time! It couldn't have been better! We visited until the food was ready to eat, Saundra Duffy presented an award that was signed by Mike Briggs to Jim Robinson for his contributions to uniting conservatives and giving us a forum to discuss and promote our cause, we said the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer before eating, we had the most FANTASTIC meal imaginable, we played water games (hm...should I call it that?), and we played this "game" where we took turns telling a little about ourselves and then picking a slip of paper and talking about or doing what was written on it. After all of that, several door prizes were given away.
I am just summing up here you guys. The bottom line was that we had a blast! I hope that each and every one who was there will post some of their memories of what took place at our tailgate picnic yesterday.
A special thanks need to be given to JustAmy and Mama_Bear for their tireless efforts in coordinating the picnic. JKPhoto also has to be thanked for barbecuing the meat. It was perfect! I would like to thank Senorita for being in charge of the door prizes. I just know I am forgetting somebody...I hope not though!
I would like to also thank COB1 for coming here from Texas to be at our tailgate party! That's a long way to come to spend time with little old us! Several FReepers came from the Los Angeles area and from Modesto and San Jose too. You are all wonderful for making this special effort! THANKS!

I missed getting a "I'll see you next time" hug. Sorry I did not get to say goodbye. Tell Willa we missed her but don't tell her about all the hugs and kisses you received. LOL

To: SiFiPattie
Hi Pattie! It was great to see you in the pix, along with your little sidekicks and your dad (didn't see your mom...). You are looking lovely as ever! I was surprised at how many showed up. I liked Jim's idea of Monterey for the next one!
Cheers, CC :)

I had been wondering what "tri-tip" was.
Sounds a lot like my dry rub pork ribs, cooked over mesquite, but without the salsa.
I'm going to have to cook some of those ribs for the Hog Wild FReepers one of these days.

Hi, and thanks!
Tri tip is explained on post #57 and then again right after you asked me!
We didn't know this is a California thing until we started talking about it on this thread!
We are our own "universe" here ya know! Wish you could have been here!
To: Fred Mertz
The Parks in Fresno have banned booze, so we couldn't legally have any there.
I think there were a few freepers, well maybe one, who does not believe in the rule of law! :)
To: Cool Guy
Any time, pal. You're always welcome at our place. Quite an improvement this time, huh? You were a real troublemaker at the tailgate party, Cool Guy. You're making a name for yourself in more ways than one. Thanks for demonstrating the "Cool Guy Shuffle". I had never seen it up close and personal. What a dance! You're too much! For victory & freedom!!!
To: JustAmy
Are you saying that Fresno folks are REDNECKS?! Ha! Amy - you have great organizational skills. What a great party! Thank you so much, Sis. For victory & freedom!!!
To: Grammy Bear
It was great seeing you there, Grammy Bear. You're a real trooper. Boy, are you lucky to have a son-in-law who bbq's the best tri tip on earth. Yahoo! For victory & freedom!!!
To: ladyinred
Hi, Sis. You and your hubby make such a cute freeper couple! It was great seeing you guys there! Wasn't it fun, though? Let's do it again!!! For victory & freedom!!!
To: Jim Robinson
Monterey? No way! That's for the rich snobs. Say, I can't wait to see photos of the Assembly Resolution! Yahoo! For victory & freedom!!!

We had a great time Saturday! The food was fantastic, we have some really good cooks! It was nice to visit with everyone.
It was so hot out there, but Cool Guy helped to keep us from overheating! (If you're ever near Cool Guy & water at the same time...watch out!)
During our "Get to know everyone" game, I had to pretend I was executing Osama Bin Laden. That was pretty easy!
Hope everyone enjoyed their gifts. A few people whose names were drawn for prizes didn't pick them up...like Janet Reno, Yassar Arafat, Hilary and Bill Clinton. Hmm...maybe they left early.
I hope we can do this again next year. By the way, what a handsome group of people!

Not yet, it is still alll so new to us that we are trying to adjust before we post everything on the FR. We do have him on at least 10 prayer chains.
To: American Preservative
I told you it was your turn to watch Cool Guy. Look what happened when you didn't join us. Chaos, dude, chaos. ;-)
