Former Clinton political hitman James Carville, who recently touted New York Sen. Hillary Clinton for a 2008 presidential run, is reportedly behind an advertising campaign attacking President Bush for his 1990 sale of Harken Energy stock as well as his ties to the oil industry in general.
American Family Voices, a group described by the New York Times as "secretive," has paid to run a 30-second commercial on cable news programs in Washington, D.C., and in New York through Thursday.
The ad blasts President Bush as "sly like a fox" for talking down his dealings with Harken Energy, which Democrats claim amounted to insider trading.
Under questioning from the Times, Democratic Party spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri, who served as a senior aide to ex-President Clinton, confessed that Carville has significant ties to American Family Voices.
The secretive group is headed by another former Clinton aide, Michael Lux, who told the Times that the AFV commercial was timed to coincide with President Bush's speech on corporate responsibility.
Additional AFV ties to the Clinton administration include its advertising agency, the Glover Park Group. Former Clinton press secretary Joe Lockhart is a partner at Glover, as are Carter Eskew and Michael Feldman, who were top advisers in former Vice President Al Gore's 2000 campaign.
American Family Voices also sponsors a Web site called "The Daily Enron," which argues that the Bush administration is responsible for various corporate scandals.
Yet another former top Clinton staffer, Stanley Greenberg, serves on the board of Democrats.com, which in July began touting an analysis claiming that President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney are "personally and directly responsible" for the deaths of the passengers and crew of 9-11 hijacked airliner Flight 93.
The involvement of Carville and other Clinton aides in the overt assault on the Bush White House belies the conventional wisdom that the Clintons have removed themselves as players in the realm of presidential politics.
Though the White House has basically ignored their attacks, both Mr. Clinton and his wife have hinted that President Bush is at least partially responsible for leaving the U.S. vulnerable to the 9-11 attacks.
On Monday, Mrs. Clinton began touting the theme of the AFV ads, telling an upstate New York audience that Bush "hadn't shown much leadership" during the wave of recent business scandals that have sent the stock market reeling.

Corporate Tax Breaks Corporate lobbyists in Washington are lining up to feed at the taxpayers trough.
And the Republican Leadership wants to feed them well:
A retroactive $1.4 billion tax break to IBM
$1 billion to Ford
$671 million to General Electric
Aha! Aren't these the amounts credited to these Corporations in their Alternative Minimum Tax funds? The Sleazy Dems (pardon the redundancy) initially promised to cooperate in repealing this law, which even they agreed is stupid and counterproductive. It basically penalizes companies for NOT making a profit, making them pay extra taxes when business is bad, or they have eaten into profits with major capital expenditures. These extra taxes, however, are kept on account and the credits can be (and invariably are) drawn from in later years when the companies have genuine (non AMT) tax liabilities.
As far as repealing the AMT there were basically two options. Keep the credits on account, letting the corporations draw them down over time, or just rebate them all at once. In turned out that over a five year term the options were, respectively, revenue neutral to the government, so the Pubbies in congress proposed the more straightforward option of a simple rebate.
It was at this point that the Sleazy Dems reneged on their agreement and began calling the rebates consequent to the proposed AMT repeal "tax breaks for rich corporations". Apparently the Dems want to simply steal this money AND keep the AMT scam running.

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 12-7 on May 23 to approve the nomination of Judge D. Brooks Smith to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. PFAW President Ralph G. Neas called the vote "extremely disappointing" given Smith's record and the fact that Smith violated the judicial Code of Conduct by continuing to belong to a club that discriminates against women long after promising the Committee he would resign. Said Neas, The fight against this nomination is not over.

These ads ran in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Missouri and Michigan. According to the Brennan Center for Justice, American Family Voices spent $628,219 in August on advertisements criticizing George W. Bush.[1] A study by David Magleby of Brigham Young University found that 89 percent of respondents who saw the American Family Voices ad thought it was primarily aimed at persuading them to vote either for or against a candidate, while only 6 percent thought it was meant to promote an issue. [2] Only three of more than 700 respondents identified the sponsor of the advertisement. No one was able to identify the ultimate source of the funds for the ad.
The respondents could not identify the source, because the ads did not say that American Family Services main supporter was the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). Nor is that information available on AFV's website. AFSCME is one of America's largest and most politically active labor unions, with 1.3 million members. AFSCME's political action committee gave about $2.4 million to federal candidates in this election; roughly 95 percent to Democrats. AFSCME gave $4.4 million in soft money in the 1999-2000 cycle. [3] Not only was this more than any other entity gave in that campaign, but it set a new record for soft-money contributions.[4] AFSCME sent 270 delegates to the Democratic National Convention.[5] AFSCME president Gerald McEntee chairs the AFL-CIO political committee.
Let's play connect the dots with this.....
"I want to say a special thanks to Jerry McEntee," Clinton told the crowd. "He supported me when nobody else but my mother thought I had a chance. He's got a big heart, and if you were in a foxhole, you'd want him in there with you fighting for the future of your family. And I'm glad he's in there with me."

It is very clear that the Clinton era people have never given up their spin and hate filled rhetoric. Does anyone not believe that the Clintons and their "aids" are the real crooks in this ENRON etc. mess? Wasn't it Ron Brown that was not going to go down alone; was going to blow the whistle? Bill Clinton and hillary are spreading lies as fast as they can about President Bush and it is time all of us remind the world via the net just what the Clintons did to this country while in office. Start with Clinton's questionable pardons and work backwards. Those of you in New York where the junior senator is spreading her lies and spin, don't let here get away with it. Two crooks Bill and Terry run the DNC, don't let anyone forget it.

The American Family Voices is full of lies and spin. Bill Clinton and Al Gore did nothing except
say they did while in the White House. All Democrats are claiming failure by the Bush administration about the same things the Clinton rhetoric ran on for two campaigns; they had eight years to do something about it and did nothing but lard the government with thousands of jobs with unqualified people; lost billions of $$ within the government that are still unaccounted for today. Never has this country had such a despicable man and wife to represent them in the White House.
Our schools are bereft of quality education, social engineering has taken place of any substantial subjects like reading, math, grammar and so on, but plenty of room for social behavior and political correctness. The money spent on education, did not for the most part ever get to the students and class room supplies, it went instead to make more jobs in school offices around the country and our colleges and universities are still belching out teachers who can't teach. Health care is totally out of whack due to Hillary's original messing with it, that care just became more and more expensive and unavailable to many in any form. How can talk about "victories" with in that administration with all the underhanded trading of favors for money is beyond me. Bill Clinton did nothing for eight years but lower the bar on jurisprudence, morals and ethics for generations to come. Believing that liar and cheat while he and his aids continue to try to destroy this country and its Constitution shows how little the people are taught about honesty, integrity and loyalty to self and country. We truly have been deliberately dumbed down as a nation through hollow schools and hours and hours spent in front of television. Life is not Hollywood or CNN as the Clintons have tried to make it; they remain unspeakably corrupt and unAmerican.
ENRON was a Democratic Pet.
I take back the bump, I was mistaken.

Speaking of the Glover Park Group:
In fact, at least two senior outside advisers to Senator Clinton were attempting to get business out of the Port Deal, and President Clinton was the go-between. Associates with the Glover Park Group, which houses just about the entire shadow staff for Hillary's run-up to a Democratic presidential bid, were attempting to get a slice of the DPW deal before the deal was made public about three weeks ago. According to current and former President Clinton staff, Hillary Clinton's Senate office was aware that Glover Park was in the running to do work on the DPW [Dubai Ports] deal.------ DUBAI DUETS The American Spectator ^ | 3/6/06 | Washington Prowler
