Given the carping and nasty nature of FR as of late, I thought it might be a good time to see the more civil and gracious side of participants. Here is a thread for just that purpose – to edify, encourage, and thank.
Ever wanted to thank that unsung FR hero? Agree or disagree, why not tell JohnHuang2 or Registered how much you appreciate their skills. And can you imagine the many hours Alamo-Girl puts into her work? Perhaps you appreciate how well the folks over at Word For The Day wield their words. Or maybe you just want to tell WIMom and her gang that you’re sorry for all your unkind words about the recent Freepathon ads, and thank her for all her hard work on that. Maybe you are an FR Radio fan. Well, you get the idea.
What this thread is NOT for: complaints against the management, flaming those you disagree with, bashing the current administration, leaving your opus, whinning about someone being banned, criticizing FR spelling, grammar, or sentence structure, calling out newbies (unless they are disrupting this thread, of course), shilling for your candidacy, carping about a particular regular thread. Well, you get the idea.

P.S. No, I’m not fishing for compliments. I’ve already been called every name in the book here on FR, and “toothless hag” is still my personal favorite.

That was just the prologue.....I was at work when I wrote that....I was about to get into the exposition, when two of my customers started annoying me, and I had to go and sell them something.
I tried to explain I was busy Freepin'...and would they just come back another day. They asked what day was good. I told them Sunday. They asked me, "We thought you were closed on Sunday?" I said, "I am."
I thought that would get rid of them...but they were insistent to the point of sounding like two Fire Island, Long Island Yuppies whining while mating on the beach of an eclipsing moon.
Anyway, before I could get back to the keyboard, I wrapped up the sale for $1300. They asked me, "Can you do any better?" I said, "Yes. $1500.
So while I was taking their $1600 they asked me could I save them the sales tax if they paid cash. I said "Honey." I wasn't sure which one I was adressing,(yes, I have some clientle of that "lifestyle") they all look alike to me, because I don't discriminate against "lifestyle choices", all I see is a lot of disposable income, from them not having to pay for things like say....raising a family...tho I have to been made to understand that the price of sequins and Lispy Wisp Language Classes have gone through the roof.
Anyway I said "Honey." this time in a more huskier voice because I realized that my ten year old Plymouth looked a bit shabby next to their Beemer in the parking lot, and thought I could smooze them into coming back and allowing me to relieve them of some more disposable income, as it must weigh heavily upon them.
"Honey, I don't charge the sales tax...I just collect it. Take it up with Governor McGreevey. "Oooooooh!!!" they cooed. (I really hate it when they coo.) "We voted for him!" "Did you??!!"
I have to be honest here....it took all of my willpower...all of my strength...to calmly turn back to the credit card machine..hand them a pen to sign it...and give them their receipt for $1700.
Smiling all the time I cheerfully told them not to let the door hit them on the way out. I really meant this!!! The last thing I needed was one of them impaled on the doorknob squealing in pleasure, before the auto parts store guy next door started to wonder why on earth I wanted to start up a male prostitution ring when the backroom Friday night poker game should have provided me with enough cash to continue buying parts for my lousy car.
I was about to continue back to the keyboard when,and get this, another customer walked in. I'm thinking, why don't they just leave me alone, I got important stuff to do here. The day brightened somewhat when I realized it was a bonafide thirty/forty somthing stauesque brunette, bonafide female, with no wedding ring, browsing around my store.
I said to myself, "well... hey hey hey!!" Sounding oddly in my head of something reminiscent of the OJ Trial....maybe the day's not a total loss.
I licked down my cowlick, splashed some cologne in my pits, and double checked to make sure my butt crack was situated properly. It was when I approached her that the nightmare began.....she spoke French.

I would like to thank all the Fresno Patriots, whether they can make it out every week or only once in a while. It's easy to talk the talk, but not everyone can walk the walk.
And thank you to all who reply to the weekly thread, it lets us know that someone is taking notice and appriciates.

If my neighbors saw me, they would say, "He's trying some new fly fishing equipment again.! He's so weird! Don't say anything to him. If you do, he will show the pictures of his grandchildren again!"
