President Bush talks with Rep Eva Clayton, D-N.C., right, as he signed a 10-year, $190 billion farm bill, at the White House Monday, May 13, 2002, that expands subsidies to growers, turning aside criticism from fellow Republicans who called the measure a budget-busting step backward in agriculture planning. Doncha just love this "Two-Party Cartel"? Harkin, Bush, a couple more dems standing around, your money down a deep hole, etc. As I have stated for years on this site & elsewhere that if you vote for in this "Cartel" you will get the SAME government. Suppose Buchanan would have drawn 8 million votes & put Gore in. Do you really think that Gore could have passed the bills GW has? No way in hell would it have happened. So you pubbies, don't tell us anymore that your party needs MY money to fend off liberalism. We have got it.

SD is losing a Demoncratic senator this fall, and you can take that to the bank. That being said, the farm bill is still a massive giveaway that shouldn't have happened.

This means farmers will take more reckless financial risks and the once competent calculated risk US farming is going to spiral down into speculative incompetence.

I don't know about your "Would it have been different if Gore had been elected" supposition, but I do know the solution to pork barrel politics - term limits. And when I say term limits, I don't mean "maximum 12 years" or something like that - I mean one term and out!
I don't think anybody can say that the 550 +/- most capable people (House, Senate, Cabinet, Vp, and Pres) are running the country. We have close to 300 million people, but the ones running the show are the best, apparently, at campaigning.

Could've been a rampant cold sore or something.... Or he's another victim of a stalking female lip biter.

: THESE ARE REAL PHOTOS, NOT TOUCHED UP! He got too close to Bill Clinton and got his lip bitten off for his troubles.
To: Registered
Looks like he's been dating Bill Clinton. He better put some ice on that.

One of my co-workers told me he called his farmer uncle in Illinois recently and the uncle told him he was deciding what crop not to grow now for the next 5 years to qualify for welfare. Evidently, like all good farmers worldwide, the government prefers to utilize soil wisely, rest it between plantings and alternate the crops it has its welfare Cadillac plantation recipients not grow every 5 years. Nothing like old fascist folk wisdom, I tell ya!

The only thing I can think of is that he wants to spend all the money so Dems won't have any left to get into touble with...
To: Libertina
The Red Star here in MN. Is already starting their pro-wellstone propaganda. By showing him with Bush. Like he had anything to do with it. Bush if you are going to sign this garbage to help Republican's win, Do not show up with Dems at the signing. Stupid voters will be confused.
To: uncbob
with karl roves' strategy, it's a wonder that Bush won with as many extra electoral votes as he did
