ANY better than the Democrats? GATT, NAFTA, USA PATRIOTS Act were all passed with the assistance of Republicans
And opposed by the left.

This is probably the most important thread going - and should be bumped and freeped from now til the Senate has been retaken from the anti-American Demoncreeps! I totally agree.

My reading is a pro choice position not an attempt to slowly roll back cureent policy. The disparate factions of the LP have a hard time reconciling their positions. Some are adamantly pro life while others place liberty above life and just as adamantly believe it is the womans right. So Harry and friends sat on the fence and got hemmorhoids from the pickets.
But full disclosure compels me to admit I am not an admirer of Harry and his faction.

In any event, though I have very little stomach for the fight right now - how can I or any of us back away from the battle? The other side won't stop until they have destroyed us. All I can do is stand, fight with financial gifts - what they can be - with prayer - and with action right here on a local level and nationally allied with others of like mind. Then leave the rest to God. That's all I can do. But that is what I will do - by God's grace and strength, so help me God!
Wow, my friend, that is sooooo well put...it's music to my ears!

This is what I have always liked about Hugh: he talks in specifics, not generalities. Getting on the radio every day and yelling that the Democrats stink is one thing. Giving us directions for how we can affect change is another.
Landrieu has got to go. Does anyone know how Cooksey is doing in his campaign? Are people up or down on him for the "If you have a diaper on your head, and a fanbelt tied around the diaper, you're going to get profiled," comment?

Agree. Forbes should run.
Maybe he's just another Alan Keyes... only wanting to be President and nothing else. Even Hillary knew she had to be something first.

That's fine but having primaries to the point where any successful Republican candidate is injured is pointless.

That is the only path to restoring our free republic open to us, whether you or I like it or not. I have seen how Bob Barr and Ron Paul are ignored by the current Republicans. I have not determined which third party is the best but I do know that the Republicans and the Democrats have too many similar traits regarding the removal of individual freedoms and the acceptance of our membership in the UN for me to continue support for the Republican Party.

The Club for Growth is the ONLY REPUBLICAN group to support....here's their mission: I see them as the only true Republicans - you can find them at www.clubforgrowth.org
The Club for Growth Mission Statement
The mission of the Club for Growth is to help support political candidates who are advocates of the Reagan vision of limited government and lower taxes. The Club is primarily dedicated to helping elect pro-growth, pro-freedom candidates through political contributions and issue advocacy campaigns. Among the major economic growth issues the Club will emphasize are fundamental income tax reduction and simplification; school choice for all families; and personal investment of Social Security.
The Club for Growth is a membership organization of thousands of likeminded political contributors from across the country who are frustrated with the ideological drift of both parties today. All Club members have a shared goal of helping elect more Reaganite, economic growth-oriented office seekers. During each election cycle, the Club will provide members with a list of candidates for Congress (10 to 20 at first) who both deserve and need financial support. We will rely on two criteria in selecting candidates for the list: 1) They are committed to the right set of free market-based policy ideas; and 2) They are running races that are closely contested and thus winnable. In many cases, we will support primary challengers taking on entrenched incumbents.
The goal of the Club for Growth is to help our members identify races where their campaign contributions, leveraged with those of thousands of other Club members, can truly make the difference in impacting elections, and thus influencing public policy.

I have no interest in turning this into a discussion of Keyes...but your comment is unfair. Alan ran for the Senate twice in the very liberal State of Maryland.
I agree with you that it is in the best interests of the country for Forbes to step up to the plate...he has the resources to win.

EV works for Alan Keyes.

Well, I guess you had your mind made up before you asked the question then.
It's a free country...do what you want. But I will do everything in my power to increase Conservative strength where I think it can actually accomplish some positive good...in the GOP.

Just because he ran doesn't mean a thing. Hillary was elected as a Senator before she'll run for President, big big difference.
Forbes can run and win.

I like Forbes. I don't think he has the charisma to win an election, but like Alan Keyes, here we have a guy who WON'T RUN FOR ANY OFFICE HE HAS A CHANCE OF WINNING!
I get a little fed up with these people who think that only the presidency is "worthy" of their efforts. If Forbes couldn't win a Senate seat, they go for a House seat---this is called "riding the bench" while you learn the game. If Keyes had spent 10 years getting a House seat, then having a legitimate shot at the Senate, he might have done something. C'mon, Steve, find a race you can be competitive in and make a difference.
