Have you ever read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand? Here is a little exerpt.

"Men who have no courage, pride or self-esteem, men who have no moral sense of their right to their money and are not willing to defend it defend their life, men who apologize for being rich -- will not remain rich for long. They are the natural bait for the swarms of looters who stay under the rocks for centuries, but come crawling out at the first smell of a man who begs to be forgiven for the guilt of owning wealth. They will hasten to relieve him of the guilt - and of his life, as he deserves."

"Then you will see the rise of the men of the double standard - the men who live by force, yet count on those who live by trade to create the value of their looted money -- the men who are the hitchhikers of virtue. In a moral society, these are the criminals, and the statutes are written to protect you against them. But when a society establishes criminals-by-right and looters-by-law --men who use force to seize the wealth of disarmed victims -- then money becomes its creators' avenger. Such looters believe it is safe to rob defenseless men, once they have passed a law to disarm them. But their loot becomes the magnet for other looters, who get it from them as they got it. Then the race goes on, not to the ablest at production, but to those most ruthless at brutality. When force is the standard, the murderer wins over the pickpocket. And then that society vanishes, in a spread of ruins and slaughter."

"Do you wish to know whether that day is coming? Watch money. Money is the barometer of a society's virtue. When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors -when you see that men get richer by graft and pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honest becoming self sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed. "
By the character Francisco d' Anaconia in Ayn Rand's book Atlas Shrugged

The looters are coming out from under the rocks.

Somehow, they made it through Immigration without getting offended.

Make that 4 times.

Really! You are so right! How can we expect others to respect us, when clearly, it appears we don't respect ourselves?

Texas A&M is is one of the most conservative campuses in the country. If the author is throwing Texas A&M into the story, there must be more to it than is being stated.

Does anyone know the the rest of the story?

I saw some of the flags that were mentioned. They are huge. They hang from the top of the roof line of the four story Corps dorms and the bottom is at the floor of the second story. Apparently most of the student body was outraged by the attempts to ban hanging the flags. Also, unlike most universities the alumni have a lot of clout. The faculty and student organizations other than the Corp don't run the school, the Association of Former Students does. TAMU president Dr. Ray Bowen cut the legs from under the Residence Hall Association by allowing the display of American flags on dormitories.

Anyone in America who wants to aid in the complete destruction of political correctness should make a solemn vow, starting today, to simply avoid using any form of the word "offend."

You're right. It wasn't a student.

From the Daily Hampshire Gazette:

College chief condemns flag burning

(Excerpt) News reports identified one of the protesters as a Hampshire College student. A second protester told Paul Statt, Amherst College's director of media relations, that she was a Hampshire professor, he said. An anonymous response called "Why we burned the flag" appeared on The Hampshire Daily Jolt, a Web site.

Isn't it about time for these foreign students (and college administrators) to be sensitive about OUR feelings about our flag?

, but stated they had reason to remove the flag because it was "insensitive to all the international students that live in the dorm."

Freedom of speech does not apply if it offends a foreign student.

I think they still would have banned the flag even without the existence of the international students. They are only using the presence of those students as an excuse and cover up of their Marxist anti-American leanings which requires them to ban the flag.
