Sorry Marine -- You're Too Old

The nerve of that Marine Corps recruiter telling me I'll too old to re-up!
I said,
"But I'm a 2nd Force Recon Scout Sniper that can still pic-a-tic off a gnat's ass @ 1K meters, in a snow storm! We lay-in-wait, and over the last 30 years I've had a lot of experience. Snipers only need to be able to "snoop & poop" and carry a 50 caliber. We don't have to do 50 squat thrusts before lights out, or hump 20 miles in full pack before sunrise! Put me up against your best 20 year old. It takes a lot to get a snipers heartrate up, 'cause we've been trained to "relax" if you want "one shot -- one kill", and I invented "relax". I'll die my hair to cover the gray, get lippo-suction and a face-lift, if you can push this paperwork through, Sergeant."
He didn't go for it. Should I lie about my age?

This was the very last post by Cheif Negotiator before his untimely and
very suspicious death by fire.
Does anyone know what came of that? Was a perp ever caught?
What became of Mrs. Cheif Negotiator?

"You might not have to go 5,000 miles to fight!" Roger...Maybe this time --- instead of going to look for the bastards, they appear willing to come look for me...
Shame on them....
For more than 30 years - I couldn't kill anything..
Even stopped hunting...
9/11 changed all that..
I'm cured now, and thoroughly pissed off..
The biggest risk, is that my sainted wife may have me "committed" before the shooting starts...
She just shakes her head when I discuss my planning and preparations for the events that may come..
She goes to great effort to keep her "girl friends" away from the house, when I'm "working" in the open garage....
Just being a good Boy Scout..... "Be Prepared"....
I can handle this neighborhood.
With a little help --- I could make this whole damned ZIP code a real dangerous walk though...

When I went to my Navy recruiter and tried to re-enlist after all those years away I was treated very respectfully but told no way. Maybe I couldn't be one of the best operators anymore but I could have passed on a lot of knowledge from the old days. Oh well some occaisional "consulting" to base security keeps my hand in.

Can't remember if it was the 'Birds or the "Angels," but we lost one last time they were out here at the Point Mugu airshow in Ventura County, California. Back seat was able to punch out at low altitude, but pilot rode it in.

Got to correct myself. It was a California A.N.G. QF-4. Possibly a retired "Wild Weasel."

Used to be we had to go over seas to make a difference Friend. Looks like your skills may become needed here if Chicken Little Inc and CEO Homey Ashcroft are correct.

I though this thread looked familiar. Should keep it up so some of the more recent newbies get to see it.

Appreciate the, um...'hail' to the CHIEF.
Still invoke his name now and then on a thread, as in just last week explaining the Original Freeper Island to someone, with Billie and daus and Scuttlebutt and beowolf and razorback-bert and me and a whole Crew escaping to there from the Whitewater and Clinton messes.
Utter civility was the purpose - no discord allowed - and we often flocked to flaming threads to slow them down.
Oldtimers will remember how many there were like that 'back then!'
Don't you think the CHIEF rode shotgun with his Marines going up to Baghdad, tapping 'em on the shoulder sayin' "There's a bunch of 'em over the rise there, boys!!"?
No doubt was right there when General Franks smoked that cigar in Hussein's palace?!
And yes, he must have hauled aboard those who made a one-way trip - - -
Thanks, Dave.

Thanks, Squantos, for bumping this thread.
I'm asking everyone to please don't give up.
I don't know the progress of the investigation right now, but I will.
I have some time to devote to it again.
Hopefully I'll have some information by the end of the week.
I've sworn off posting threads on FR, but for Herb and all of his friends, I'll make an exception.
In the meantime here's the information I've been able to gather so far.
Most of you have seen this, but this is for those who got here late:
Autopsy Report
Arson Report
I remind you all that at the time of the issuance of these reports, the cause of fire was undetermined and the case was still under investigation even though it's listed as accidental on the autopsy report.
Again, thanks to all of you for keeping the interest alive.
May God bless you for standing by the CHIEF.

One of CHIEF's last posts was to me.
It was a post of encouragement regarding me joining the Coast Guard Auxiliary on 10/03/01.
My Post to CHIEF

Well I know CHIEF would be pleased that I'm still doing this.
