Peter Jennings Criticises President Bush's Leadership During this Crisis

Posted on 09/11/2001 10:19:29 AM PDT by IWONDR

Anyone been listening to Peter Jennings on ABC?

He is criticising President Bush saying it's been two hours since he spoke from Florida; that the President needs to demonstrate more vigorous leadership during this crisis. With the largest attack against the U.S. (internal to our borders) in history, how can this talking head suggest that the President needs to be making PR appearances, when he needs to be conferring with top security officials within the government and elsewhere in order to ascertain whom was responsible, and to coordinate and develop an appropriate response?

I think we need somehow to let Peter Jennings and ABC know that we cannot accept this ridiculous criticism of Pres. Bush when the nation is in the midst of this crisis. PR, would of course, be the first response from our former Prez, and Peter would be lauding ex42 regardless of what he had done, if this had occurred on his watch.

I know, I feel pretty bad about myself too. I found myself wishing that if this was going to happen that they would have taken out the UN.

Since it's worth repeating... "[T]he President has a lot more important and pressing duties to take care of at a time like this instead of wasting his time running his mouth off into a microphone..."

...into an NBC microphone, which would implicitly suggest that it's somehow worth the trouble of holding up the nation's business to talk to Peetah. It's not, but HillBilly always got in touch with you, and you miss it, don't you, Peetah?

Arrogant, foreign whiner!

LOL, headson, didn't realize that Canada didn't want Jennings, either!!!

Plan B: drop Jennings by airplane into the center of those West Bank Palestinian camps--they'll think he's American and drag him to death.

Oh, oh! Here we go! A FReeper delimiting our First Amendment liberties!

Friend, I hate what Jennings said, and have registered my complaint by strongly-worded email to ABC management.

Still, what Jennings said -- despicably egregious as it is -- certainly does NOT fall outside the bounds of the First Amendment.

The fear of Peter and the lefties in this country is that this will rally Americans around a common cause like Pearl Harbor. They want to make the average American at this time skeptical of our commander. Well they can go (*&^ themselves. If Bush wants war then I'm all for it. There's some foreign folks out there that need some killin.

Excuse the following language, but you slimy bastard Peter Jennings...what in the world has President Bush got to do with these bombings!
He could not have foreseen any of this and he could not have prevented these bombings!
ABC, your God Damn station needs to fire Peter Jennnings and all those involved in scripting this garbage for bastard Jennings to read over the airways!
I'm emailing ABC now...and you folks don't even want to read what I'm going to write!

ABC just had a kid from Stuyvesant High School on live, and at the end of interview woman asked him what he thought of the whole thing. Kid: "I'm just glad we have a Republican president." Woman interviewer: "You think we should retaliate? Is that it?" Kid: "We retaliated after Pearl Harbor . . ."

I just sent this to ABC. One will probably be of no effect, however, the more we all speak out the more somebody may take notice.

---Lock & Load

The Email

I find it completely appauling and un-american the way that Peter Jennings is commenting on our Presidents ability to handle this situation. He is completely bias in his comments and his colors are shining brightly to the the American people. To question the Presidents motives and elude to his mental health is absurd. I can certainly see why Fox News is coming on so strong. With anchors like Jennings it won't be long before the American people look at ABC the way they look at the National Enquirer. Maybe ABC should hope to be viewed with this group, at least they had the guts to break the Jessie Jackson love child story, and it was the truth.

Beside it has come to my attention Peter Jennings is Canadian. No wonder he has no sense of Patriotism towards this country. Can't ABC do any better than this?, doesn't the "A" in ABC stand for American? I guess you should change it to Americans Broadcasting Canadians (for personal political gratification).

Outraged In Florida!

I still am trying to come to terms with the total disrespect Mr Jennings had in reporting President Bush's response to the events of this infamaous day.
Could it be that Mr. Jennings lofty idea of intelligent thought, actually allow him to see in to the mind of those responsible for dealing with this tragedy
While this nation reels in shock and grief, Mr. Jennings spared no moment to essentially lay the blame at our current administration. Perhaps his intent was to interject "objective" reporting into an ultimate, emotional moment. His intentional personal perspectives were not welcome, at this time, and speaking for myself, at no time in the future.

Until Mr. Jennings is allowed to devolve to his high school drop out beginnings in Canada, (For which I will have pity on the Canadians) WABC has lost a long time viewer and supporter of their advertisers. Then again, I am only one person. I'm sure you won't receive many letters such as this (/sarcasm)!!!

I heard D. Hackworth and he sounded OK up to the point where he just had to take a jab at the President by saying the FBI needed funding, not a super missile defense scheme.

Paine's Ghost.......No apologies necessary.....

Entropy...will you take him [jennings] back?

Harry......."HUNT THEM DOWN" was a phrase that warmed my heart.

To all........now is the time for McAuliffe & Co. to get on the airwaves with one message. "Make no mistake, George W Bush is our President and we are behind him 100%" Then they need to shut up and go away for a while.
