JD Vance’s stunning act of disloyalty

Republicans lost in part because the Iran war dragged on. The vice president owns that.

President Donald Trump is not apologizing for taking military action to disarm the Iranian regime. “I’m totally convinced that my decision on Iran, for the long-term good of our country and even the world, was an absolutely correct one — and it continues to be,” he told Politico on election night.

So why is his vice president publicly disagreeing?

“The reason we lost is the war,” JD Vance declared in a shockingly disloyal post on X, adding, “If you’d like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that’s at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost.”

Of course, this is ridiculous. While Iran was an important factor, the exit polls showed it was one of many issues that contributed to Tuesday’s results. Though Vance tried to suggest he was merely echoing the president’s own view, he was clearly criticizing Trump’s decision to go to war, which the president has repeatedly defended since Tuesday. As he told the Wall Street Journal, “I did the right thing. I would have done it again.” Vance conspicuously did not say the same. Indeed, his statement contained not a single word of support for Trump’s decision to act to prevent Iran from ever getting a nuclear weapon.

Vance did not say: “President Trump did the right thing, and I support him 100 percent. Iran has been at war with us for 47 years, and Trump is the first president to fight back. It was the most...”

Vance is an elected official, not a Trump employee.

He owes his first loyalty to the Constitution and the American people. Not to Trump.

Because of the Iran war, we will not have an R majority in the Senate for at least six years. We will not have a single conservative federal judge confirmed. We will have trouble getting essential enforcement agencies like ICE funded. We will probably not see any further downsizing of the bloated federal government. We may see the communist state compact to eliminate the electoral college pass as it only needs four more state legislatures to push it through. We saw a lot of the young white, Hispanic and black men who voted for Trump switch to the Dems bc Trump focused on this unnecessary war and not housing, jobs, and the inflation it caused. I could go on - was it really worth it, Mr. Theissen? My answer is a resounding NO.

Vance is a hustler who’ll say anything to advance himself.

It’s cute that he thinks he has any shot at the presidency still.

IMO this could be a step in driving a 25th amendment effort for replacement of the POTUS.

I’m through with Vance. I don’t think he even wants to be president.

Presenting the appearance of division at the top of the Executive branch doesn’t inspire confidence in the American people. I don’t think Vance is thinking about US at all.

Apparently a lot of Americans are so illiterate of history they need their "Pearl Harbor" to inform them.

Should have let the Iranians turn a couple of our cities into rubble, they are infested with leftist extremists anyway. It can easily be done by launches from container ships.

We also need to have a Muslim takeover of part of the country, lopping off heads, stoning to death people and throwing alphabet people from high buildings so ignorant barbarian leftists and many "repubs" will "get it".

“Should have let the Iranians turn a couple of our cities into rubble”

This is the kind of hyperventilation that made average voters think Republicans are insane warmongers.

Keep talking like this and we will be lucky to have a Republican dogcatcher in a small town in Kentucky in a few years.

Vance is trying to tiptoe through a minefield.

If he survives it and gets to be the nominee in 2028 I will be impressed.

Lol.

Vance is walking a tightrope. But ridiculous to say we “lost the war”. The only way Iran can win is if we lose our resolve. If we agree to their demands, especially reparations, it will be akin to a humuiliating surrender.

100%.

Some months ago I was surprised to see some ignorant morons on this site calling for Trump to fire Vance.

The author of this slop is a globalist shill who has worked as a propagandist since his days in the GWB administration. The last thing this guy wants is an assertive, independent JD Vance who was the audacity to call out the captain for steering the ship into the iceberg.
