President Donald Trump spent two months urging Americans to pretend he was on the ballot. On Tuesday, they did just that.
Voters delivered a stunning rebuke to Trump’s party that rivaled anything Republicans had suffered in 50 years, defeats on ruby-red turf that Trump won handily just two years ago, where he has dominated politics for nearly a decade and against candidates he had in some cases handpicked.
Not only did Democrats flip Senate and governor seats in red states, but at times by eye-popping margins.
“The message is very clear and very simple here. It was a complete repudiation of the party as defined by Donald Trump,” said Mike Murphy, a Los Angeles-based Republican consultant who worked for candidates in the pre-Trump GOP, including Jeb Bush and John McCain.
“We have a little saying in show business, ‘box office poison,’ and that’s what Donald Trump has become.”
More than 41 times in recent weeks, The Washington Post found, Trump told voters to act this November as if the midterms were a referendum on him — a bold dare for a president whose approval ratings had reached historic lows as a growing number of Americans reported opposing his policies and his behavior in office.

Should have democrats are very bad for business ,LOL
Yeah, it appears that backfired yugely. Just got the tds crowd cranked up. PDJT will be okay. The majority of little guys may have some trouble ahead. 😵
Trump’s ego got the best of him. Get some rest old man. You $crewed your loyal Patriots and many Americans.
Your Golden arches are NOT going to be built and many of your pet projects will be slow walked.
Speaking of walking. Walk away and take your ego with you.
Dang right I am ticked off!
Will it now be standard to impeach everyone in sight when there is a change in majority in the House and Senate? Is this what we want in the United States?
It was an embarrassing night. You can sugar coat it all you want.
He’s not wrong, but it’s comical to hear this from a “Republican consultant” in a heavily Democratic sh!t-hole who worked for insufferable losers like this who drove Republican voters to support Trump in the first place.
A little glimmer of hope: In Alaska, Peltola is lagging behind the Dan Sullivans.
He probably should have looked at his own approval rating before saying that.
OOH! That’s a low blow by the Compost!
I don’t have that much sugar. Moving forward but watching my 6 for sure. 👍🇺🇸
That’s the conclusion the writer and you want to believe.
Mid terms usually swing in the opposite direction of whoever is in the White House, and that was also true for Obama in 2010, Bush W., Clinton, etc.
The mid terms are also more about local politics and the regional demographics.
For example, in Texas where you had a female Latino running against a white male (Abbott), guess who own? https://www.foxnews.com/politics/democrat-gina-hinojosa-stuns-abbott-makes-history-first-latina-texas-governor
But in a national election, the candidates on the ballot will be HRC vs. Trump, or Harris, vs. Trump, which is very different. Many of these local political figures would not be viable on a national ballot, like Hinojosa where in a 40+% Latino State she get a large degree of support merely based on the demographics (identity politics).
If he would have stuck to his agenda, only the Thune types would have been losing big last night.
Unfortunately he made the ballot far worse because he morphed into the neocon RINO losers and tried to sell MAGA as something other than what the winning coalition voted for.
Such a sad mess.
Recall Donnie telling us Serfs to shut up and suffer
for his BAD DECISIONS while he is raking in Millions on inside trading and donations from his billionaire pals and celebrating the OIL companies’ pals were making record Billions..
Donnie got a reply alright to that ridiculous sacrifice BS>.
He needs to resign and let Vance be the new GOP face.
Donnie is a LEPER no one wants near them.
And Trump is still blaming others for all of his disastrous decisions. Delusional Narcissist.
Key Biblical Themes Regarding the Ego
• Pride Goes Before Destruction: The Bible consistently warns that an inflated sense of self leads to a fall.
◦ Proverbs 16:18 — “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall”.
◦ Proverbs 8:13 — God explicitly states that He hates “pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech”.
Bush 1 or 2 never had an ego, they actually had the opposite trait, which was not to fight hard against the left. Trump was the opposite extreme. To those that much is given, much can be taken away.
We are seeing (and still to see more) the consequences of this behavior. He should have had more humility after having his life saved by God’s grace.
Vance wants no part of it now. He said no to ‘28
How many times has the ruling party won the midterms? This was expected. obama got pounded worse than this. Is what it is and time to move on. Destroy Iran and lower gas prices and continue to keep border fleas out of our country while removing as many as possible between now and 2028.
Sorry, but nonsense, the turnout numbers clearly show that at least in some places, the lower propensity Trump voters did not show up.
TX is a perfect example. GOP numbers were in line with 2018 and 2022 midterms.... Where the low propensity Trump Voters did not show up, and Dems were up significantly. GOP turnout was pretty much in line with previous midterms, Dems numbers were just a lot higher there.
OH GOP numbers were down from previous midterms, though OHIO I fully blame Ramaswamy for depressing turnout. It was always clear there that Democrats were going to at least put 2-2.2 or more in the box, which at the high end would absolutely match or overtake the lower end of GOP turnout for the last few midterms. Looks like they put 2.3 in the box and GOP will likely end up around 2.1. Dems might have pulled it out anyway, but there is no doubt Ramaswamy cost the GOP in OHIO big last night and that was obviously going to happen from the start. I had hoped this turd wouldn’t drag it down enough to cost the Senate seat, but anyone who tries to argue that POS didn’t contribute highly to GOP loses in OHIO is in denial.
When Trump told the American people he didn’t care about high fuel prices he messed up bigly.
