The shooter who attacked the Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, is dead. John Griffin, 16, used a shotgun, blasted open the locks on the doors to gain entry, and murdered a teacher and three children. A second teacher chucked her phone and tackled him, buying time. An armed bystander, Kaylub Giamanco, intervened and killed Griffin. Oregon already has universal background checks, a ghost gun ban, and safe storage laws. In fact, every gun control law pushed by anti-gun groups is codified here so these people can pipe down. Will Griffin’s mother be charged? She bought the shotgun around the time of Griffin’s birthday.
Amy Swearer has more. It’s not clear. Ownership is in question, and while the state prohibits ownership by those under 18, that doesn't apply to family members with long guns:

I know virtually nothing about family law. So bear with me.
But it seems like she was an unfit mother, and I don’t know what laws or regulations deal with such status.
She apparently stated that he was a good boy. Apparently never in trouble until he decided to shoot up a school.
But he had been in a special needs class years ago. As a younger boy. So clearly he was a troubled boy. Was she getting him the help he clearly needed?
I guess we’ll see if we ever learn the autopsy report , such as information as to what prescription drugs he was on.
I don’t think she will be charged with anything but I do think that the hero who stopped the killer will be.
She bought it for his birthday. When filing NFA papers one of the questions is are you buying it for yourself or others. If you say for others, you will be rejected so she lied on a federal form. That’s a crime.
Uvalde police department were flummoxed.
Maybe the rats have an agenda that includes confiscation of all firearms. That would be a priority before DSA can control the government.
I think it would be classified as a straw purchase. UNLESS she actually has a permit or something that shows that she can shoot and has for years...say 1-10...
