President Donald Trump railed against Sen. Tom Cotton in a series of posts on Saturday, accusing the Arkansas Republican of holding up a bill that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent and encouraging people to call the senator at his cellphone number.
“Everybody in Arkansas, Tom Cotton, a friend of mine, is holding up a very important Bill. It’s called, ‘The Sunshine Protection Act’ or, ‘We Don’t Want to Change Our Clocks Twice a Year Act,’” Trump posted on Truth Social. “To the Great People of Arkansas, please let your Senator know it would be a GREAT Bipartisan WIN for the United States Senate, and for America, itself,” Trump said, including the senator’s phone number.
Cotton’s voicemail box was full when CNN called the number. Later, the phone rang three times before an automated voice said the “wireless customer” was not available. CNN has reached out to Cotton’s office for comment.

We’re all sick of changing the clocks one way or the other. End the madness!
I remember in 2015 when Trump read Lindsey Graham’s phone number at a rally in South Carolina.
Not sure I understand all this, but what is most people’s feeling on “daylight savings”?
I’d like to go back to straight standard time, not daylight saving
House members overwhelmingly supported a measure that would establish year-round Daylight Saving Time nationwide, passing legislation over the summer by a 308 to 117 vote.
I agree: Standard seems the better choice.
I say change it back 30 minutes and be done with it.
“No one likes changing the clock, me included, but Congress has enacted permanent Daylight Savings Time multiple times before and repealed it each time once Americans experienced absurdly late sunrises in the winter,” Cotton posted on X
I don’t remember this.
lost it
Not sure I understand all this, but what is most people’s feeling on “daylight savings”?
I remember during the energy crisis of the 70’s we stopped changing the clocks.
I remember it still being dark at 8:00 am while parents, teachers and children were starting school.
Unless widespread changes are made to start school later, then I’m not a fan of staying in DST all year long.
Along these lines, it’s one thing to face rush hour traffic in the dark after work. I wonder if our country will be up to waking up in the dark and driving to work in the dark?
What other societal changes and adjustments will need to be made?
And as far as the cell phone goes, we probably pay for the damn thing anyway so why shouldn't we know the number. Our system is set up so we have easy access to elected representatives. I guarandamntee you he doesn't answer the phone calls that come in through the switchboard.
I remember going to school in the dark at that time, too.
There was no daylight saving time when Trump was growing up. And most of my childhood it didn’t exist either. Dr’s say getting rid of daylight saving and staying on standard time is more natural & better for peoples circadian rhythm
I wish Trump would worry about things that matter. We have been on savings time pretty much all my life. Dudden matter to me one way or the other. I have other things more important to worry about. Wish the prez would also.
Change the clocks next month and leave it. Make Standard time permanent.
I’m okay with either one. Just pick one. I like getting up and having a cup of coffee before the sun comes up and sitting on the front porch listening to the birds chirp and watching the squirrels scurrying hither and yon so whuchever one makes the sun come up later would be my preference
