MECCA: A suicide bomber reportedly attempted to detonate explosive-laden vest inside Grand Mosque here Friday night. The device malfunctioned and no blast occured.

According to reports the alleged bomber got close to Kaaba.

However, Saudi authorities on Friday, while denying suicide bombing reports, clarified that a man was arrested for harassing passerby, causing fear and panic. No details apropos the nabbed person has yet been provided. Reuters reports on Thursday:

The Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen's Houthis said on Thursday the terrorist group had attacked a power distribution station in the holy city of Medina this week, putting one transformer out of service but without affecting the electricity network.

The coalition said an investigation and examination of drone wreckage confirmed Houthi involvement in planning and carrying out Tuesday's attack. It said the station supplies electricity to the Prophet's Mosque, one of Islam's holiest sites.

A Houthi military source, quoted by the Houthi-run Saba news agency, denied the accusation, calling it a "lie" and saying it was intended to cover up what he described as Saudi Arabia's failure to substantiate its earlier accusation that the Houthis targeted the Muslim holy city of Mecca.

If this had been successful there would’ve been an all out Sunni V. Shia holy war.

Noriega was our buddy, until he wasn't.

Saddam was our buddy, until he wasn't.

Opium growing war lords in Afghanistan (the Taliban actually was burning their fields) were on our side.

The mob worked with the USG (OSS I think it was called at the time, could be wrong) to stem off NAZI sabotage at ports and dockyards (highly effectively I might add).

--The enemy of your enemy is your “friend.”

And

--Nations have no true friends, only interests.

Today, we have A LOT of influence over Saudi Arabia, and they are immensely important: oil, Persian Gulf, Red Sea, the war against the Houtis, the war against Iran, one of the most influential places in Islam, a leader in OPEC, the #1 export market for US weapons: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQZp8Df3Scv1OlxWLLKcRqfKneHpErvH00_gq63AH73Pk-0UefDJjGsShnx&s=10

Also, the argument can be made, that Saudi Arabia while not perfect (nor are we), has made substantial strides in the right direction over the last decade plus.

I wonder if this is what the radical Muslims want. But on a global basis. The fire bombing of schools by French immigrant kids this week point to taking the unrest wider

That fellow is soon going to wish his attempted blast killed him. The Saudi’s are not known for their restraint against criminals.

I’m just surprised the Iranians haven’t started doing this in Israel and the US. Yet.

Not quite. The Shia revere objects, saints etc. The destruction of the kaaba would excite Qarmatians and maybe extreme Salafis

Saudi arabia since the 1970s has exported and sponsored Salafi/Wahhabis terrorism.

They created the Taliban, Hamas, Al Qaeda, Al Shabaab, lashkar-e-toiba, Abuja sayyaf, boko haram, islamic state etc.

“Also, the argument can be made, that Saudi Arabia while not perfect (nor are we), has made substantial strides in the right direction over the last decade plus.”

One reason such an insane culture could survive for so long is that for most of its existence most of its adherents never saw any other model of living. Television, movies, travel and exposure to other models of living has probably already had its impact on all but the most “devout.” To be devout probably requires a special kind of stupid. And children raised by an abuser mostly become abusers because they imprint at an early age on what is normal. Islam’s most powerful tool, other than Democrats, is that whenever someone says, “Hey, I have an idea.” the next noise they make is choking on their own blood.
