Trump on Iran:
I have a big decision to make. Will a deal be made with Iran that lets them rebuild and create a far greater country than it ever was before, maybe one of the greatest in the Middle East or even the world?
Or do I annihilate the Islamic Republic and do it quickly, never giving them a chance to kill and destroy people and countries again?
Do I drive them into hell with no chance of survival and no hope of future greatness for generations?
But I believe we’ll make a deal right after the election, because it doesn’t make sense for them not to.

Honestly I’m really weary of messaging like that. Do it or don’t do it. Last time it resulted in peace in our time. Included in the MOU was the provision that would have allowed Iran and Oman to extract tolls for shipping transiting the gulf. There must be no agreement that provides Iran any greater rights than it had before the war. Otherwise, just like before, after a couple days they announced we’ve breached the deal and they’re closing the straits .we need market stability and any agreement like the last one cannot provide that

The war was over months ago.
What we have now is a blockade.
But if they hit us we hit them back. These are called squirmishes, stamping out bugs.
But, Trump is threatening to start the war again. What will Iran do?
The Strait has never been Trump’s goal; Iran not having nuclear weapons to blackmail the world is.
Trump has repeated this a thousand times. Where do you keep your head, three feet up your ass?

Unless he’s willing to use nukes first, there’s not another way to militarily defeat Iran without killing thousands of our own military people. Nobody will stand for that.

Remember the first set of stealth bomber attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities? Remember when Trump told us repeatedly that the Iranian nuclear program had been “obliterated.” His own words.
Was he lying about the obliteration then, or about the possibility of weapons arising from that “obliteration”?
Setting the precedent that it’s OK to use nukes would have consequences.

That’s the “No True Scotsman fallacy.” It also suggests that you don’t think President Trump should be responsible for the outcomes and consequences of his words, which is inconsistent with liberty and self-government.
President Trump needs to be made to understand that lunatics can’t be “dealt” with using reason, negotiation or anything resembling common sense or mutual interests.
He also needs to ignore whoever’s telling him to put considerations about the mid-term elections BEFORE everything else when the opposite is true:
The voters gravitate to decisive leadership rather than promises made meaningless by repeated setbacks. Setbacks caused by trying to negotiate a deal/compromise with uncompromising fanatics.
Carrot failed. Using stick later will also lose the elections. Use stick now, finish this conflict decisively and regain the respect of the People.
There are far more votes to be gained from patriots than from weasels anyway, so let the whining capitulators pound sand and make snarky seashell messages on it.

The hardliners in Iran are in charge now and Trump’s threats don’t faze them. I wouldn’t be surprised that Iran winds up acquiring nukes because of all this. There’s no military solution to this mess and the sooner Trump understands this the better.
This is hardly a war- it is a political campaign, a game of chicken.
Or, like the political lawfare strategy the Sandinistas were fighting with their allies the Democrats, the antiwar socialists, Cubans and Russians- only Ortega and his wifey-poo was allowed to live and return to power and resume their dictatorship, rather than plugged like he should have been.
