A mother who was vacationing at a Minnesota lake is accused of trying to kill her daughter after the two argued over a cell phone.
Court documents obtained by Law & Crime allege Jasmine Marie Laws, 35, of Baltimore, threw her 15-year-old daughter’s phone into a lake in Otter Tail County, Minnesota.
The daughter went into the water to get the phone, and when she retrieved it, she got into an argument with Laws. Laws allegedly struck the daughter first, with the daughter allegedly retaliating by grabbing Laws’ hair.
The two continued to fight, and Laws allegedly put the daughter in a headlock, flipped her onto the ground and pushed her head under the water, causing the daughter to have trouble breathing.
Witnesses initially thought the two were joking around until they saw the serious nature of the confrontation. When they saw the daughter was in serious trouble, they ran over to help get Laws off her. One witness alleged they heard Laws tell her daughter: “I gave you life, I can (bleep) end your life.”
The teenager lay on the ground after being freed and was initially non-responsive before opening her eyes.
The teenager was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Laws was charged with attempted second-degree murder and three counts of domestic assault. She posted bail and returned to Maryland but is due for a court appearance in Otter Tail County on Aug. 26.
She was also ordered not to contact her daughter.

YUP.

My father established our relationship when I was seven years old. He looked at me and said, "You know, I brought you in this world, and I can take you out. And it don't make no difference to me, I'll make another one look just like you."
Is that Mother or Daughter?
Some 15 y/o girls can look much older when/ if they know how to present themselves as grown women.
Mothers who kill their children. And then some people try to convince us the Devil doesn’t act on Earth.
Once when I wanted to back up a post about the Dragnet episode of a mother putting her baby in the garbage can, I looked up on Google and found one long page of SOME of the RECENT cases of a newborn baby in a dumpster and similar cases in the news, followed by more pages of more stories.
Unbelievable.
It’s them again...should have waited...daughter drowns mother incarcerated for life bug gets sived for killing her kid.
my father in law used to say that all the time.
“...pushed her head under the water, causing the daughter to have trouble breathing.”
Nothing worse than a difficult 15 year old female.
Well, as the demoncrat that she is, I can see her taking the kid’s life while she was still in the womb, but, trying to do so 15 years later? I think it’s going to be a tough sell down at the courthouse. But, then again, it is Messachusetts..
On 2 WMAR Baltimore, that pic is identified as the daughter, Jasmine.
Yes boo boo it was.
Sorry, Jasmine is the mother, not the daughter. And the pic above is of Jasmine.
And here's mom, arguing with the doctor to let him come home because “I can control him’’.
In NJ in a case like this it's a mandatory 72 hour observation period , no if and's or buts.
No, God gave her life and you have no authority to take away.
Attitude fostered by legal abortion.
Not making light of a bad situation, but my dad would always say (when we were being nauty as kids): “I brought you into this world, I can take you out!” You knew it was time to straighten up.
Bill Cosby “Himself”. I have it on DVD and I’ve seen it many times. Excellent comedy. Too bad the left was able to bring him down.
Too bad the left was able to bring Bill Cosby down.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned Cosby’s sexual assault conviction in 2021 and ordered his immediate release after he had served nearly three years of a three- to 10-year sentence.
Must cost Cosby a fortune ....... the court ruled that his “due process rights” were violated because a former district attorney had previously promised him immunity from criminal prosecution in exchange for his testimony in a civil suit.
Cosby has remained a free man, although he continues to face subsequent civil lawsuits regarding other allegations of sexual assault.
