LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In a late Friday Truth Social post, President Donald Trump finally delivered the endorsement that each of the top GOP candidates in the race to replace Sen. Mitch McConnell badly coveted.
And it went to U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, whom Trump called a "proven political winner" who is "always a vote we can count on because he knows what it takes to get things done."
Some Kentucky political insiders say this could seal the Republican Senate primary in Andy Barr’s favor.
"It's over," former Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson, a Republican and former U.S. Senate candidate himself, told WHAS11. "I’m not surprised. Andy had pulled into a lead, had plenty of money to close strong, and had put himself in a great position for Trump to come in and endorse to put it away."
Louisville GOP strategist and political consultant Iris Wilbur Glick said, "I think the shrinking chunk of undecideds will fall in line behind Barr."
...
Cameron, who started as the clear frontrunner in this race with statewide name recognition, now faces both the influence of the President and McConnell – whose network has supported Barr behind the scenes in this race – with the primary election just 18 days away.

Andy Barr is a RINO.
People endorsed by Trump are usually show in in Republican primary, but not that great success in general elections.
And Trump usually endorses a primary candidate only after he or she is certain to win, anyway. He would rather endorse a RINO who wins than a MAGA candidate who loses.
Andy Barr is not a Republican in Name Only.
He is certainly less wobbly than McConnell. I do like Daniel Cameron, but can he win? He didn’t win his last race.
I don’t want to see a Democrat representing Kentucky in the US Senate. Nor do I want to see Upchuck Schumer as majority leader.
Daniel Cameron was running against an incumbent with a nearly 70% approval rating - that’s difficult to defeat. He would have no such opponent this time.
You are someone who understands politics.
Unfortunately so.
Daniel should be running for Governor he would have won last time if not for a special late night Vote dump !
In hindsight he should have ran for re-election as AG and then done exactly what you suggested.
But, hindsight is 20/20. He decided to be gutsy and run against an incumbent with a 70% approval rating...did well against those nearly impossible odds (52.5% - 47.5%), but close is still losing.
