Pew Research: Nearly 1 in 10 babies born in US are to undocumented mothers

Since the first days of his second term as president, Donald Trump has been pushing back against a constitutional right he says has been taken advantage of for too long - what he calls "Birthright Citizenship."

A new analysis from Pew Research shows, following a 40 percent drop from 2006 to 2016, a rapid rise in the number of births to unauthorized mothers in the United States from 2019 to 2023, which means about 9% of all 3.6 million babies born were to authorized immigrant mothers or those with temporary legal status. “It had to do with the babies of slaves and the protection of the babies of slaves. It didn't have to do with the protection of multi-millionaires and billionaires wanting to have their children get an American citizenship," Trump said from the Oval Office on March 31.

The 14th Amendment establishes that all persons born or naturalized in the United States are U.S. Citizens. The president's Executive Order challenging the law and its intentions has reached the Supreme Court, with oral Arguments already given.

A new analysis from Pew Research shows, following a 40 percent drop from 2006 to 2016, a rapid rise in the number of births to unauthorized mothers in the United States from 2019 to 2023, which means about 9% of all 3.6 million babies born were to authorized immigrant mothers or those with temporary legal status.

In an interview with The National News Desk on Monday, Lora Ries, Director of the Border Security and Immigration Center at The Heritage Foundation, said, it shows "how exploited our immigration laws are and have been for several decades; that that many people are making the effort, specifically to come here to time the birth of their child to have a US citizen because it brings a host of benefits for the child but also for the parent."

She added, "Once they are 18 or 21 they can come back to the US. They can vote in U.S elections, they could join the military; they can then also bring in family members as lawful permanent residence using chain migration."

Critics have accused Trump of singlehandedly trying to undo the Constitution.

In an April 3 speech on Capitol Hill, Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., said, "Donald Trump and his allies want to be able to select who's a citizen and who's not. He wants to be able to pick who gets to be an American and who doesn't."

Still, many others have raised questions about whether there should be limits to birthright citizenship, especially given the trend recent years, where thousands come to the United States to give birth, simply so their child has U.S. citizenship, though the baby will be taken back to be raised in the parents' home country, a phenomenon referred to as "birth tourism."

The phenomenon, especially popular in China, is detailed in a new book by Peter Schweizer, "THE INVISIBLE COUP: HOW AMERICAN ELITES AND FOREIGN POWERS USE IMMIGRATION AS A WEAPON.”

In an interview with The National News Desk, Schweizer said, "In some places in southern California, there are entire apartment blocks that are populated by Chinese birth tourists. We will arrange for the medical side of it. When your child is given birth, we'll make sure you get that birth certificate."

As far as any clarity from the Supreme Court regarding the question of whether there are limits to birthright citizenship, a decision is not expected until the end of the term, in late June.

There are two legal concerns, Amendment XIV and 8 USC 1401.

8 U.S. Code § 1401...:
“The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:
(a) a person born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof;”

Congress can change 8 USC 1401, and should.

Why are the leftists not merely relying on Amendment XIV?

Because they know it was meant for the “Africans” of 1868.

“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.”

Funny how the last part seems to get left out in quotes. It means the quoted sentence is retrospective as of the time of ratification and not prospective.

Birth tourism babies typically never reside in the USA.

It’s more than 10% in a lot of hospitals.
In some hospitals, it’s 75%.
More kids=more $$$$
And you pay for it all including their healthcare.
It’s a largest CON JOB going on in America.

All you need to do is amend the constitution as it is currently written... That would mean a proposal to either amend or to completely repeal the 14th amendment.

Amending the U.S. Constitution requires a two-step process outlined in Article V: proposal and ratification. Amendments must be proposed either by a two-thirds vote in both houses of Congress or by a constitutional convention called by two-thirds of state legislatures. Ratification requires approval by three-quarters of state legislatures or special state convention.

Once you have all of the above lined up for your proposed amendment... Get back to us on that.

The question is can we send someone back now, since Biden administration granted parole.

First sentence contains opinion of writer not fact about the Constitution and rights afforded. The Construction is written for US Citizen’s rights. not every person in the world.
