Joe Kent, a top aide to Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard, took to X Tuesday morning to announce his resignation as director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), writing, “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran.”
Kent, an Army veteran who has two failed congressional runs on his resume, also posted his official resignation letter, and tweeted, "I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby."
After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.

— Joe Kent (@joekent16jan19) March 17, 2026 After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.
I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.
May God bless America.
In his letter to President Trump, Kent wrote, "I support the values and the foreign policies that you campaigned on in 2016, 2020, 2024, which you enacted in your first term. Until June of 2025, you understood that the wars in the Middle East were a trap that robbed America of the precious lives of our patriots and depleted the wealth and prosperity of our nation."

I guess all those appearances in the past with Tucker were just kindred spirits meeting together.
He joins a long list of losers who blame the Jews.
Crushing Israel’s biggest enemy is upsetting many!
He wasn’t briefed because he was thought to be the source of leaks
These resignations because of the Iran action are starting to look coordinated.
Another enemy of the state gone.
He is a big Bannon supporter. Nice guy, but he likely believes in Replacement Theology.
Ignoramus making big bucks and he’s never heard of holocaust. Damn anti-semantics.
He ignores the fact they’ve been at war with us for 47 years.
He, a lot of others
I have never understood replacement theory. If God is an unchanging God, then His promises and statements and warnings don’t change what He said. He says what He meant and He meant what He said.
I’m probably too simple-minded for mental gymnastics.
Joe Kent lost his first wife in war and remarried a woman who now works for a far-left anti-Israel, pro-Iran website.
Good riddance!
Because love is blind? or because it makes some people stupid?
“Top Aide”? Doubt it.
I resemble that remark, but it has not poisoned me. My wife and all her friends are liberals.
God cannot change his mind, he is perfect. Replacement Theory does not make sense and is never mentioned in the Bible.
I think the replacement theory crowd gets their theology mostly from Romans 9, but it’s too bad they don’t continue to read chapters 10 and especially 11. Clearly the Lord is not finished with Israel and still has affection for them.
Sorry, my wife and kids are all “bitter clingers” like me so I’m kind of spoiled.
But look at this way, your trials have likely made you a better, stronger man. (Oy, I think I’m digging this hole deeper.)
