Archaeologists recently unearthed a gold-laden burial in Panama — an epic discovery that dates back over 1,000 years.
The Ministry of Culture of Panama announced the discovery, made at the El Caño archaeological site in Panama's Coclé Province.
The tomb contained several gold and metal artifacts, including chest plates, ear ornaments and bracelets, as well as "finely crafted ceramics." The tomb is called Tomb 3.

Archaeologists all say they’d rather dig in latrines to discover the real life of the people of the past that moon over some gold trinket that is only indicative of one guy - until they find that burial stuffed with gold.
Maybe they do, but they certainly don't act on all of them.
I hope we get a follow up story someday.

Come to think about it, gold and silver were about the only metals old Americans knew.
They basically still lived in the stone age.
Sort of like the old Egyptians.
In king Tut time, gold was the cheapest metal, silver was a lot more expensive and the most expensive items for them were two IRON daggers.
They did not know how to make iron, but found some iron meteorites and beat them into daggers.
