58 percent call 2025 a failure for Trump: CNN/SSRS Poll

More than half of Americans in a survey released Friday rated President Trump’s first year back in office as a “failure.”

The CNN/SSRS survey found that 58 percent of U.S. adults said 2025 was a failure for the president on a number of issues. Another 42 percent said the year was a “success,” and about 1 percent had no opinion.

Overall, 61 percent of respondents said they disapprove of the way Trump is handling his job.

Of that number, 35 percent cited personal behavior — including putting self-interests above the nation, bullying and being disrespectful, erratic behavior, allegations of racism, and his court record — as the reason for their lack of confidence. Misuse of power (25 percent), his policy agenda (23 percent), foreign policy moves (15 percent) and cost of living concerns (12 percent) were also among the justifications, according to the survey.

“Even if he is doing some good in areas, he comes across very self-seeking and [shows a] lack of caring about the common good of our citizens,” an independent respondent from Oklahoma wrote.

About 58 percent of people said the president has “gone too far” in using presidential powers, while 34 percent say his use is “about right.” Another 8 percent say he’s “not gone far enough,” the data shows.

In recent weeks, the Trump administration has touted the capture and ouster of Venezuelan regime leader Nicolás Maduro while boasting about controlling the Latin American nation’s oil supply. Democrats at home have criticized Trump’s focus on foreign policy, citing distress in the U.S. over rising health care and housing costs.

Just 42 percent in the latest survey said they approve of the president’s moves in Venezuela. Roughly 58 percent said they disapprove of the actions. On health care policy, 36 percent said they approve of Trump’s agenda, while 63 percent said they do not. On the economy, 39 percent said they are in favor of the administration’s policies and 61 percent disagreed.

When it comes to priorities, 36 percent of participants said the president has the “right priorities” — marking a 9-point drop from the beginning of the term. About 64 percent said he “hasn’t paid enough attention to the country’s most important problems.”

The economy and cost of living, 42 percent, and the state of U.S. democracy, 22 percent, were ranked as the “most important” issues facing Americans today.

The CNN poll was conducted Jan. 9-12 with 1,209 adults. The margin of error is 3.1 percentage points.

As of January 2024, his disapproval rating was 52%. Yet he won in November.

I suspect the poll was conducted in the CNN newsroom, 58% negative for Trump. Oddly CNN has just announced they are laying off 42% of their newsroom and replacing them immediately. They are also replacing the head of the newsroom. They wanted Herr Gobbles but he was unavailable due to his permanent residency in hell. “Baghdad Bob” is rumored to be the choice of CNN but CNN has doubts as he on occasion tells the truth. If not for senility, Dan Rather would definitely had the job. Dan and truth rarely were in the same room together and only by accident and Dan immediately fled the room.

Who will be the chosen liar for CNN? /sarcasm

Maybe but don’t base it on a poll conducted by CNN.

Year round we hear about polls and they are absolutely free to the public and rarely accurate. Rasmussen and a couple of others are accurate.

Why do politicians and political parties pay many millions if not multiple tens of millions for private polls that will not be disclosed to the public when the media has already done them for free?

The Democrats, the Republicans, and Independents all know these polls are political Bull S—t meant to influence and not inform. Thus they pay millions for accurate polls to guide their campaigns.

The Hill? CNN? There is no reason to give that poll any credence.

Forgot to add this about Rasmussen. His free public polls of the nation are good. They are not micro analysis. However, if a politician wants micro analysis of individual races they will happily do it for a price and it will be as accurate as possible. Bring your checkbook.

Isn’t it funny the CNN polls end up with results that the CNN panelists and hosts agree with?

Almost as if they aren’t accurate. /S
